Re: Easter Saturday!
WALK????? ARE YOU MAD?????? - what, and waste valuable drinking time?
Or is this a crafty ruse to get Accywebbers to work up a thirst? Waste of time, ever known one of us without a thirst? Well, I might consider it ..... |

Re: Easter Saturday!
unfortunatly staggerinman cannot get back online yet, so he's asked me to add to this thread , well here goes,
saturday 26th march, walk round church & along the canal. meet at the stag for 10-30am, then first stop will be at church kirk church, there you will be allowed to climb up the tower, to view surrounding distances ( get the camera's ready) THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME THAT THE TOWER WILL BE OPENED, so if people are interested please come & join us, the tower will close by 12 noon, there are interesting things to see in the church for those of us that can't do the climb. after the church we will procceed to have an interesting walk on the canal. arriving back at the stag around 1pm ( depends who dawdles ). then it will be up to yourselves wot you do. ( don't forget the night do )//// |
REaster Saturday and church kirk tower

Why is it the last time the Tower will open? Is it unsafe or something? Photo kindly taken by Owd Bert

Re: Easter Saturday!
don't know, atarah , but thats wot the vicar has told staggeringman, im assuming, like you that it may be getting too old.
|
Re: Easter Saturday!
Would it be possible to meet you all at Church Kirk a little bit late? Seeing as how we are here this weekend after all we'd really like to have a look in the church and maybe up the tower depending on how precarious it is but my ten year old daughter also has an invitation to something in Blackburn at 10:30. We could drop her off and then get back to Church Kirk maybe around 10:40/10:45. We would also need to get back to pick her up from Blackburn at 1:30.
Would it be OK if we brought the 13 year old with us? We won't be able to stop at the Stag but we can get round there later on in the evening - not that I've got an Easter bonnet because I wasn't anticipating being here. |
Re: Easter Saturday!
I would imagine you would be most welcome Willow;wish I could join you all but working on sat;will be there in the evening though!{minus bonnet;although Kelsey is threatening to make me one!**

Re: Easter Saturday!
Sorry Jason missed this post. If you find Ignition car sales (Central) head off down dill hall lane with the sports center on your left go to the pelican crossing, and the stag is on the corner on your right.

Re: Easter Saturday!
Has everybody dried out yet? Did you notice how it stopped raining once we'd all got back to The Stag? I think I got soaked right through to my middle. :e37: :e37: :e37: :e37:

Re: Easter Saturday!
well i've just got in, no i've been to town after the stag, shopping, well as willow said , we all got drowned , i was nearly a whale, practising of course, i didn't put my walking boots on ,(clever that i am) & started to do a slide to the water, ha ha ha as we walked along the canal , we went to church kirk church first it was very interesting, the windows & everything are something to see !!! its a eleventh century built church with lots of character about it. well worth the day . thanks staggeringman for arranging that for accyweb & may i also say thank you to mandy , staggers wife for laying on a feast of sausage sandwiches & hot cross buns, very welcome they were too.

Re: Easter Saturday!
Thank you all, Willow, Mimi and myself had a really enjoyable walk and the views from the Church tower was fantastic. Talking of which, is this the hand of God?.....or was an Accy webber to blame

Re: Easter Saturday!
That all depends if they want other folks know who they are.(sorry, I’m drunk.hehe. it’s been a brill day)
|
Re: Easter Saturday!
len brilliant photo's as usual , pity i couldnt get uo the tower very envious of all who went up but great reports of you all when you came down
|
Re: Easter Saturday!
There's no way I could have gone up there either, nothing to do with heights, everything to do with claustrophobic narrow spaces. Great to see the views you all had from up there.
I've got some other pics to add and will try to do it before the end of the day, it might get very late before I get back though. If you want to know which ones are me and Busman join the JamButty forum and have a look for us on there. ;) |

Re: Easter Saturday!
I’d just like to say thanks to staggeringman for organizing our walk-about. It was obvious to us that you had put a lot of time and effort into sorting thing out i.e. information gathering, printing hand-outs etc. It was just a pity that the weather had taken a turn for the worst therefore ending the walk part way through. Never the less we still enjoyed our selves and the refreshments prepared by Mandy (Sausage butts and Hot crossed buns) where very much appreciated and very well received when we got back to the Stag.
Many thank to Mick, Willow and Mimi for contributing to the Gallery by adding their photos to the Album, making it a much more interesting Album to view. :) . |
