The Accyweb Annual Awards Evening
 

I have an idea that I'd like to run by you all. Let's have an accyweb annual awards evening. We'd all have to dress up to the nines and applaud politely if we didn't win. There would be actual nominations, presentations and speeches. Of course, it would all be done as the site is intended to be - live on the web.

First task is choosing a number of categories - please don't nominate anyone or any thread specifically at this point.

My initial suggestions are:-
Best funny thread
Best serious issue thread
Funniest thread wander

Anyone else want to suggest some. Remember, don't start nominating actual threads yet.

most outrageous thread would be funny, can just see everyone delving into the history. Would there be a time limit of threads included? i.e last 12 months or 6 months etc....

i think this would go far!what you need is silent referees, roy could pick them and then they would vote unamiously and roy could put the results on here? roy would know the referees and count the votes but none of the web would know who was voting for who?

I think you will find Roy has enough to do at the min he is working very hard so wont have time for this so you would have to get someone els.

This is the way I see it working

1. We discuss the categories
2. I'll post the final list of categories
3. Nominations can be sent to my by pm
4. I'll post the list of nominations for you to all vote on
5. Everyone sends their votes for the winners by pm to me
6. I will compile the winners and make the announcemnts at a live, on web, ceremony. We'll agree a time and I'll run it like a proper ceremony, winners will be expected to make speeches, losers will be expected to applaud. You will all be expected to be sat at your computers in your finery, in fact pictures being posted as you arrive will be welcomed but not necessary.

So, categories first - we should have about seven or eight I think, any more suggestions.

Great idea Gayle. I will not be wearing a sequined waistcoat, cufflinks are as frivolous as formal wear should get for a gentleman.

A bit like a newreader though, my below the waist attire will remain a mystery.;)

Well I've just had a pm from Roy and he's ok with it so full steam ahead.

I will be posting the official categories some time over the weekend. The more suggestions the better at this stage.

BTW Garinda, when did you start calling yourself a gentleman? Only joking!

Biggest drama Queen award.

I would like to nominate-

1/Gayle Knight in 'The Great Pantopican Debacle'. Things turned personal, resulting in a self imposed months break to recover from the ordeal.
2/Less in the 'Dissillusioned with the way things are now, as opposed to the old days'. Two resulting threads later, we are still non the wiser.
3/g78 in 'My Last Ever Blog Entry'. Resulting entries make this ruse untrue. More comebacks than Barbra Windsor.
4/ Garinda in 'The Fifteen Minute Huff'. When I had a telling off from Roy for bringing the site into disrepute, and had four threads closed in as many days. Threatened to leave the forum and take my talents elsewhere, only to return sheepisly fifteen minutes later because I missed it.
