hi, katex, the bloke who did my screwing for me is very efficient & very very thorough.........so when do you need to borrow them for?i will have to charge the batteries first .

Oh thank Gawd you turned up in the nick of time Mez, this lot making me sweat .. ok pm me to let me know who it was, and also where you got said tool from. Store where I went tonight didn't have one.

Does it have rechargeable batteries ?.. .. hope plug Ok.. hope 3-prong, as bought this re-chargeable toothbrush too this weekend (not cheap) and has 2-prong lead and, of course, no shaver point. Can I get an adaptor... NO!
Anyway, hard work, put toothpaste on, starts to oscillate and toothpaste flying bloody everywhere, on me carpet, down me t-shirt ... all over me face.

Back to original request ... will tell ya' the saga after had me tea.. keep em in anticipation. Back after Holland's meat pie and slop peas, lashed with gravy and pickled beetroot swilled down with glass(es) of white plonk.

Thanks Neil, at Homebase, they didn't think could get anymore, but will try other places now. They did suggest an electric place between Homebase and Asda .. do you know, never noticed that !

Well time to put the record straight. Of course you guessed was only talking about a power-type screwdriver. Mez told me about all the fun she has had with it ..that woman gone screwing mad.

Can't believe didn't have a small type one at Homebase last night !!.

Am just now about to embark on a mission of constructing this small garden bench for my meagre strip of British land out the back. Have been staring at it for 2 weeks now in the hall, and have now managed to handball the package to the kitchen. Course opening the pack cost me a stab with scissors in me hand,broken finger nail and not too sure about that toe I dropped the iron end on. Just realised probably screwdriver not the issue, now have to search for spanner to hold nuts at the back !!

Took day off 'cause will have to do outside and didn't wish neighbours to be smirking at my efforts ... they OK actually ... but something I have to do on my own, if you understand my meaning. 'I will survive' type stupid attitude. First bit is going to be the hardest, screwing one slat to one cast iron end and then to the other end .. my arm span not that wide. Will do it, am determined. Just hope will get it done before the weather breaks.

Once done, anybody welcome to try it out and watch the ducks going by .. just hope get it tight enough so doesn't collapse, or sway :eek:

I know the feeling katex. I bought a thingummyjig last year for my mum and it took ages to try to put it all together - in the end i gave up and invited my sis & her partner & kids for tea - and sis & her partner put it together while i cooked! I cheated i'll admit it! lol

Anyway, nearly there with this thing .. had succumb to asking a friend to help me last night. Only the brackets to put on now.

What gets me is no details on box to indicate what I would need, so bought normal type screwdriver instead of Philips, but seems to work ok. Now discovered will need summat to hold nuts at back to tighten up these screws, and THEN it says, 'using electric screwdriver' make some pilot holes :eek: for wood screws.

Wish that it also would have added plus 'one extra human being' :D

Off to B & Q now.

Aaaw thanks Neil, don't want to spoil your reputation by calling you sweet .. but think you may have hidden depths somewhere. Got me adaptor by the way, and pliers and also power screwdriver.. thanks Mez for offer for me to borrow. Called Gofer X :rolleyes: Just charging it up now.

I know Mez hun, sooo sorry, now find they only provide one spare bolt for the two I bent in my early attempts to get first slat in, however, think one has gone in successfully, albeit slightly crooked.

Now on last lap putting on long middle bracket which has to be screwed into each slat ! Says 'may need some bending' English phrase of understatement here. If yer' first name is Uri .. come along :(

Managed to do three .. ok so what if not quite flush with slat :p and maybe I have taken the indents (or whatever they call them) off the top of the screws. :rolleyes:
Love my screwdriver however ... see what ya' mean :da: Mines a sexy little black and white number. :D

Shillelagh: Would have tried your tactic, but can't cook either.

Will have to get back to it later, have to start the bloody ironing now.

Neither can i kate - what i did was send the nephews to maccydees along the road and a list of what to get and told em to run home so then the burgers didnt get cold!! lol It was a treat for mum!
