OK, Just one guess. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...MAN747/ask.gif

You needed a user name that would hide the real you so you decided to spell your name backwards! Is that right Nel?:p

BUSMAN came about previous to my accyweb membership when I tried to sign in at another site. For some reason, every combination of COACHMAN seemed to have been taken - - so in frustration, I typed in BUSMAN and hey presto:D

No chance of changing it now since my comments on Nels name :o http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/a...1&d=1155924228

Re: What does your name mean?

Mine was given to me as a nickname when I lived up in Glasgow.

They all used to whisper excitedly when I entered a club, 'Gary-in-da-house'.

When I first joined up one cold winters night last year I didn't think I'd still be known by it. I've joined lots of forums but Accy Web is the most addictive, so I'm stuck with it.

I much prefer my shortened nickname Rindy, which if I remember correctly was first given to me by the Conway Twitty sisters, Stinky and Links, in the chatroom.;)

Mine I have had since primary school by my pals warping my christian name and it has stuck ever since. Would cause more confusion if I put my proper name in Gaelic which did cross my mind when joining though.

LancYorkYankee 18-08-2006 20:19

Re: What does your name mean?

Mine is pretty obvious. It was a spur of the moment thing when I found the site in June prior to my trip to England.

The "yankee" was what I supposed all americans are known as over there. I'm also a "yankee" to all my southern brethren here. However, being born and bred in New England, we never considered ourselves yankees, that was the hated baseball team from New York. Kinda like the love affair you "Lancs." have with your Yorkshire neighbor eh?:D

LancYorkYankee 18-08-2006 20:27

Re: What does your name mean?

Actually, my avatar symbol of a "kid" is says more of who I am. One of my nicknames is The Kidd and I mentor/counsel alot of young people in the community! For what it's worth!

Madhatter 19-08-2006 16:42

Re: What does your name mean?

I'm me cos I live in a hat making town, stockport was one, hence the museum, and the footy team. london was another, and the midlands one was ather stone.
They made hats for all over the world. but the last factory here has now closed. aldi decided they wanted it to build a supermarket that looks like a cow shed so it got demolished. :( all we have is one case of hats in the under threat local museum. The factories were huge and served by road rail and canal.
Mercury was used during the manufacture of felt hats, and the constant breathing in of these fumes made the hatters go mad, some say that this is where the saying mad as a hatter comes from. mad as in losing the plot slightly, not mad as in angry or mad as in hyperactive.

lewis carroll created a character of the mad hatter, although I don't think he ever actually got called the mad hatter by anyone. He did say a lot of silly things though and wasnt to be taken to serious.

entwisi 20-08-2006 18:08

Re: What does your name mean?

Mine came from when I started working for Barclays. The logons we have at work are the first 6 characters of your surname plus your initial. Anyway, at the time I was on the internet and there is another Ian Entwistle(a physics lecturer in Manchester) who had grabbed most of the Ian Entwistle logons at places like Hotmail etc. I found that no matter where I go entwisi is available so I stuck with it. So scary as it sounds, if you find entwisi anywhere else on the net its always me!

shillelagh 22-08-2006 21:29

Re: What does your name mean?

mine is a play on my last name and also because im part irish and my screenname on aohell is shillelagh and that came about because when i joined aohell my name had gone and every name i tried i couldnt use it had already gone. My mum had been playing her records and shillelagh & shamrocks was on the top so i put shillelagh in and thats the story behind my name!

What was the question again I was distracted by Fibi's avatar.;)

I would go for something a bit more masculine instead of a pink saggy old cloth cat.
I have donated but I guess you are talking big bucks to change a name?

Re: What does your name mean?

Mine comes from a nickname the kids gave me once on holiday. It was a very windy day and we'd been on an open topped bus down the front at Scarborough then went into the SeaLife Centre. As we went in they took our photo. Nobody told me what my hair looked like or suggested I do something about it but then when we picked up the photo the girls birst into giggles and called me "wispy the wonder woman".

The "Willow" part is because I live in Willows Lane. When I tried for an email address as willothewisp or willowthewisp it wasn't available so I stuck an 'h' in and became WillowTheWhisp. People tend to shorten it to Willow though which I don't mind and I've got quite used to that by now so that when I hear someone referring to "Willow" or "Willow's" it sounds like they mean me!

I think I've told you before, but when I first joined I used to picture you in my head as looking like Kenneth Williams, who used to narrate Willow the Whisp cartoon on children's television in the 70's.

Mind you I also pictured Lettie as a Sissy Spacek look a like!:p
