wrapping damm christmas pressies up who else hates it & why? mines because i buy the present i think matches the person ...then i have to sort the paper out too then the wrapping cellotaping then the fancy bits too & i even wrap them to go in a bag ... does anyone else?

Choosing the present is a nitemare enough for me, strangely for a girlie im not big on big crowds & shopping, ive walked out of shops packed to the nines cos i get claustophobia only time i suffer it LOL, wrapping is something again last minute & as long as its covered its right by me - specially when it takes 2 secs for someone to rip it off, yeh i out then in cariers ready for collection then lol.

So sorry to hear about your frustrations Mez!:( Agree with both Mez and Mel dislike the wrapping and even more so the shopping!

Speaking of wrapping, does anyone over there use comic paper as wrapping paper? I know me Mum's family always did this and it carried down to me and my siblings. Pretty sure it is a poorman's thing, which mum certainly was.

Just not sure if it was carried over from the Mother Land?

Oh I love wrapping but I do tend to do it in stages instead of all at once....
Its the shopping bit that gets me cus i never knbow what to but grrr

I shall be having an easy time this year for pressie buying. Comes in handy being single over crimbo, no girl friend and kids (package), saving myself a fortune. :D Hehe

I saw the title of this thread and thought it should be in the over 18's!!! :D
I was such a little angel until i met tinks and rindy etc!!! :D

I havent bought any christmas pressies yet so cant start wrapping them can i? lol I normally buy them all and then 2 days before christmas get the big rolls of wrapping paper, the sellotape, all the pressies and most important a bottle of wine and glass and wrap them all up all at once and then xmas day i'll see everyone and give them out then.

i love the whole christmas thing, the shopping for presents the wrapping and giving them, it makes me feel all warm and nice :D

My back bedroom is like Santa's Grotto......I have wrapped the presents as I have gone along.........but I leave the final fiddly bits until just before they are going to be delivered.
I choose presents that I think the person I'm buying for will like, but I also choose the things that I would like to receive. I try to match the wrapping paper to the gift too....and the label. No comic wrapping paper for me.....though I guess it is more environmentally friendly.

i love buying , but totally hat wrapping and especially i get really pis**d of when sellotape gets stuclk together. I usual buy at last minute , this month just flys though the weekends come think and fast and usually im watching stanley at the weekend so its usual last minute wrapping for me!

Was thinking about this today. Isn't it nice that we have enough "stuff" to be able to wrap more than just a present or two? I remember back when we'd get a couple presents each and be quite excited about it. Remember my parents talking about Christams' with maybe some special food or candies and needed clothes.

I just am grateful at how well off many are compared to previous generations eh?

Well I have just spent all afternoon wrapping pressies!!!!

It doesn't bother me at all wrapping. I always try and do a nice job of it. I like nice metallic papers......usually purple and silver as these look nice under the tree with the lights gleaming off the paper. I also tie glittery string around them all with nice silver, blue, purple bows on them.

I know they all just get wripped open, but I don't mind. I like a neat presentation.

I only have a few more pressies to buy now and then that's me DONE and dusted for another year.



One of my pet hates is ..........people that have a Birthday near christmas. Poor sods always get their Birthday pressies wrapped in Christmas paper :( . My lads Birthday is on the 13h December and I always make a special effort to get him Birthday Paper lol. Then I have my neices on the 22nd December!! but that one is easy.....money in a card ...;)

I used to love wrapping but it's a bit of a nightmare these days with so many to wrap I even wrap all the children's bits that go in their stocking. I have wrapped a fair few but not all of them yet.

Yes Its Hard Work Doing The Wrapping But Its Easy When You Are On Your Own You Have No One To Wrapp For And If I Bye A Pressy For My Self I Have No Need To Wrapp It Because I Knowe What It Is So I Feel Sorry For You Lot With Children

Aw Mallard, we lot with kids may whinge about it all. However, nothing quite like seeing them open up a well desired present and to see the joy it brings them.

Maybe that's also cause Cindy does most of the wrapping and decoratring!:rolleyes: . I know she likes doing it and maybe the kids don't always appreciate all the hard work that goes into it but we are establishing memories they'll (hopefully) desire to carry on with their own children!

I used to have it all sussed whilst I was in England. Write the list and then buy a couple of items each lunchtime. I took them back to my office and wrapped them, hid them in my cupboard until Xmas Eve when I took them all home and put them under the tree.

This is my sixth Xmas in Tenerife and I have to rely on web sites like Amazon.com with wish lists. Most of the stuff my grandkids want isn´t available here so it´s the best option.

Thinking back, I used to hate the crowds, noise and the constant Xmas Carols, but, I´m missing it this year. Nowt so queer as folk!!

I started writing cards on Saturday but ran out of cards before I ran out of people! A friend of mine makes her own. She starts in january. Maybe I could get so organised for next year.

Sorry we won't be at the meet Mick so you'll have to make do with this.

I love wrapping pressies but unfortunately I have an attention span of a goldfish. So when I decide to start wrapping pressies (always all at once never a couple at a time) I start off with the perfectly wrapped present...but the last one always ends up being held together with 2 different styles of wrapping paper, clear tape (shock horror no metallic tape left!) and a stick-on bow if they're lucky!

I haven't wrapped any yet, in fact i've hardly bought any, I haven't even put the decorations or tree up yet as I am still decorating. The only presents that we have bought up to now are Siobhan's. So we'll have to get busy this weekend and get organised.

Hi Shillelagh, if you're sending something to the Emerald Isle, I wouldn't post it any later than this Friday if I were you. If you're posting something in the UK, the safest option would probably be 1st class Wednesday 20th (that should allow for at least 1 day for it to go walkabout!)

Don't have many to wrap these days as kids grown up and bought grandaughter clothes, son wants a suit and buying daughter a telephone system from Argos off internet, which she can go and collect in Leeds.

So, that left the Secret Santa at work ... cut out lovely gold wrapping, even got gift card to wrap .. folded nicely .. hey ! where's that cellotape that is always on that shelf ?.... nash, nash, disappeared. Have some at work .. took to work and, well, looks Ok I suppose, even though paper a little crunched in transit.

Now feeling guilty, whoever got me in the draw, has put something in a lovely little gift bag and cut out a Christmas picture to stick on it with the addition of that curly streamer dressing. Must have cost more than the pressie .. supposed to be five quid .. but spend more usually. Hangs head in shame.

Ok brains of britain here - guess what i forgot to buy!!! lol

Ive finally finished buying my pressies yesterday so thought i'd best get them wrapped up especially as they are lying in the middle of my living room floor and my niece came in today and said whats them? Her present was lying on the top and i said if you start rooting then Father Christmas will definately not be coming to your house on xmas eve. I know i'm a bit late sending them to him but he'll forgive me especially after today with my niece and my brother. Anyway what ive forgotten to buy was gift tags to stick on the pressies! Not a big thing until you realise that some pressies are the same size but for different people so i've made some on the comp and printed them out - i got 14 on the page now with 15 pressies well the one without a gift tag on i'll give to my bro! lol.
