books
this has probably been done several times before, but hey i never read it :D
i cant seem to be able to get into anything but true crime or biographies, the more gory the better, but it has to be true, i detest soppy love stories and fiction...give me a book about the kray twins and i'll not put the book down till i've read it all. what sort of books do you like reading?? :D |
Re: books
I am reading/and have read lots of Martina Cole. I am reading The know at the moment. This one I think has took me the longest to get into. The others I have read Two Women, Faceless, Dangerous Lady, Maura's Game have been very easy to get into, and I just can't put them down when until I have finished. But this one was slow going to begin with - Just started getting interesting now to the point where I lie awake at night, looking at the clock thinking ' Just one more chapter'............' oh just one more' :D:D

Yes by me here :p LOL! I'm giving you the link as there's lots of good suggestions in there. As slinky has said the Martina Cole books are excellent which came recommended to me in that thread by mez, I then recommended them to slinky (talking of which sis I think you still have one of mez's books) and she's hooked :) As for me I always ask you for recommendations and usually you have some good ones .... though the last books you lent me were crap! :p :D |

Re: books
My favourite novel is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
I have quite a wide taste in books, I love Jeffrey Archer's fiction novels and will read anything by Stephen King. ps shouldn't this be in general chat? seems a serious enough thread to me. |
Re: books
I have just read 'The Island' by Victoria Hislop, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I usually get through two or three books per week, the one that I found the hardest read was Sophie's World.....it is not a very thick book, but it is very, how shall I put it...... metaphysical. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it, but I was certainly educated about the world of philosophers by the time I had read it. I don't think it would qualify for a 'summer read' with Richard and Judy. |

Re: books
has anyone read the bible
this book has been a big influence on my life and i try to follow its teachings in everythig i do and i like nothing better than sitting down and reading a few psalms before i lay my head to sleep :) obviously my edition has a lot of misprints in it :D |
Re: books
Am a big kid at the moment and am reading The Chronicles Of Narnia (again...) Love autobiographies, just finished Peter Kay's and before that Little Britain (both very funny). I like Wendy Holden, Jackie Collins, some James Patterson, Philip Pullman and I defy anyone to know more about the Harry Potter books than I do.
And in answer to your question Chav, yes I have read the Bible, probably not the same version as you though, lol. |

It is currently the number 1 book on Amazon even though nobody knows what date it will finally be released. The new film however will be released on 13th July 2007. Yippee!!!

Re: books
I totally agree Slinks I much prefer reading to the film/TV versions. Da Vinci Code, The Lion, Witch & The Wardrobe, Trainspotting, Fever Pitch, Bridget Jones etc..... I'm now trying to think of a time I prefered the film. Still love the Harry Potter films, though I do prefer the books.

Re: books
Angela's ash's has got to be the one film that stuck in my mind for being the worse film ever.
The book had me in tears, and I loved the book. But god I was very VERY disappointed, it missed too much of the story out, and the best bits at that. |
Re: books
The worst film adaption has got to be Flowers in the Attic! Such a suberb book I'm sure they could have made a good film from it but it was so badly made. It was low budget, terrible acting didn't capture the feeling of the book in any way. A total disappointment. :(

Re: books
pmsfl, i'll have to agree with ya on that one yee, it was complete crap

Re: books
Sahara - film was rubbish - book by clive cussler was good. I watched the film with someone who hadnt read the book and she thought it was a good film. Said it wasnt as good as the book - the film missed out loads of what was in the book. Dont like the Jack Ryan films either well except for the 1st one they did - hunt for the red october and i saw the film then read the book.

I really hope not, but I do think she will. To stop herself from writing anymore. All we know is that the last word in the book is "SCAR"
