This strange new language

My almost thirteen year old grand-daughter now has her own email address and can chat to me on MSN Messenger.

Unfortunately, I only see her a couple of times a year and so I'm not quite sure how her education is going. I was pretty shocked to see the state of her spelling. I can't quite recall one of the comments received but I did say to her that it looked like text speak. The reply was 'cool'!!

I also said that her generation would change the state of the English Language and words we know now would change forever.............answer 'cool'.

I suppose my Nana thought the same about me. 'Fab'!!

Crikey that puts pidgeon English to shame. I think they do it to stop us knowing what they are on about.

I sort of understood from Jamie that she had a new boyfriend called Luke but the 'mo tho' threw me a bit. Oh well, as long as she is happy.

I know a middle aged woman who sends 'txt mssgs' like that! And if we're not careful the mods will be telling us off for using them in our posts :D

Text is about 10x harder to understand than normal english, and takes like 100x more effort to type than normal english :p

I can't stand it :D

depends what mood im in and who im texting as to whether i use txt spk or the lovely english language properly :D

I don't like it either Cyfr. It seems bad mannered and lazy to me but then again I was taught English by Mr Smith at Rhyddings. Spelling was important then.

she said " we will get there soon, this time next month it will be done."
