Loads of bods on here are increasingly refering to people as "folks"... is this an example of increasing Americanization ...? I know I've done it myself!

The Modern English word "folk", derives from Old English "folc" meaning "common people", "men", "tribe" or "multitude". The Old English noun itself came from Proto-Germanic "*fulka"

Americanism my arse. It's about time you got your folking facts right.:D

Folk have been calling folk folk for donkey's years. The only difference is that Lancashire folk pronounce it 'foke' ;)

Interesting that you used the term 'bod' Mancie. I used to say that a lot at work and one of the bosses asked me where I got it from as he said it was an old RAF term that he hadn't heard elsewhere in civvie street.
