Rampent frogs??

Last night walking home from the fair, we found 2 frogs having sexy time in the middle of the path. My youngest son loves frogs, so he picked them up and placed them in the grass to carry on lol.

Walked a bit more and there was 2 more at it, so he put those in the grass too.

Walked a bit more and there was one on it's own so he put that in the grass. Just crossing the road to my house and there was one dead in the road. Went for a paper this morning and there was ANOTHER dead in the road :confused:

What going on?? we are being invaded by frogs. Don't think I have ever seen as many frogs before in my life.

Does anyone know why they were all out last night?? and is it normal ??

That nature place at the back of Spinning Jenny is being refurbished so they come from there, maybe they did a lot of work on it yesterday cos of the good weather and disturbed the frogs.

Although it is getting to the time of year for frogs and toads to begin the breeding process, your described scenario is farely odd. All the amphibians I'm aware of always lay their eggs in water. Also they must mamate in water as the eggs are fertilized as they pass by the male an into the water where they develop a protective gelatin sac.

I thought it was odd too. But misskitty may be right....if they are doing work on or near the Lodge up our way, I think the poor frogs/ toads have got somewhat disorientated
