Horrendous Names!!!
A flip side to my other thread on names :D
Any names you really dislike? I know when choosing names for the kids it drove me mad! The one thing I always made sure of, was that the childs initials weren't going to be something dodgy ;) :D Any friends given their child a name that made you have to stifle a giggle? One of my friends called their baby Siobhan Simone .... nice names separately but together? ...... poor child :rolleyes: |

I used to hate my name when i was younger which is Adrienne, other kids used to say it was a boys name and i hated it, but as iv got older, i like having a different name to most.

It's ok for boys, but with girls you might have to change your name if you marry.
We had a cleaner in London called Maud Lynne.:D |

I think most people hate their own names. I hate my sons name being shortened to Tommy or Tom, I christened him Thomas and that is what he shall be called. I don't half get on my high horse about it lol! |

I had access to names in Accy (work)
Here are some which caused giggles:- Isabella Tinkler 3 pensioner chaps who always came to the counter together (mates) -named Whewell (weewell) Whittle and Philpott They are probably dead by now but I remember a child named Justin Case who is probably still living local -you might know him. |

I had enough hassles with my last name thank you going through school. The kids changed the middle letters and made it into a totally different word - mind you one of the teachers did it once went bright red and couldnt apologise enough!!! :D

In Blackpool there are a firm of undertakers called Box brothers,,,which always makes me smile.....i dont know their first names but i imagine them as Pine and oak...but then i have a sick mind....:unsure8:

Many many years ago I was helping on the Labour ward at QPH......Dolly Whittaker (Lettie may remember her) was the delivering midwife and the lady gave birth to a baby girl. Dolly asked what the baby was to be called.....the woman replied 'Helen Joy'.....quick as a flash dolly retorted 'I daresay you'll get a bit of both'....the woman looked a bit perplexed....then it dawned on her and she changed it......but darn it I can't remember what to!

when i was a sales assistant for carphone warehouse in burnley i served a customer who had changed his name by deed poll to JESUS CHRIST and was on his credit cards,also on of the cleaners at butlins was call shelia blige

my kids initials are RAMM
and JAM Rebecca Anne (after my mum)Marie (after his mum) and then her surname M. Jack Alan(after his dad)and his surname M. I didnt think about it at the time i named them it just happened like that it does make me giggle though Ram Jam! lol |

As a student nurse, I once played a joke on one of my colleagues whilst we were working in A&E. When patients came in, they went to the reception where the lady there would fill out a card containing the patients personal details and the nature of their complaint. As a student it was one of my jobs to go to reception every few minutes and collect the cards so that we knew who was in the waiting room and who to call through to be treated.
I slipped an extra card in there with the name Don Kiddick written on it, the poor man couldn't pee...:D My mate went into a jam packed waiting room several minutes later shouting 'DON KIDDICK'. All the patients were looking round and then at each other. My dozy mate, not yet realising, pumped up the volume and shouted 'DON KIDDICK'... By this time, several of the patients had started laughing and several others were trying not to. At the 3rd shout of 'DON KIDDICK' it suddenly dawned on her what she had been shouting. She went bright red, scuttled off around the corner to find me and a couple of colleagues falling about laughing in the corridor. The waiting room was in uproar, as was fracture clinic waiting room next door and we were in for a right bollocking from the sister in A&E. It was worth it though, all the patients we saw that morning were laughing when they came through for treatment and said that we'd made their day.:D |

I remember when we student nurses went for an evening out...usually to Grab a Granny Night at the Mecca...if we were asked our names by a young man we usedto make things up....My friend used to tell the guys she was called Melina Stools (melaena stools - a medical term for blood in your poo)...and I used to call myself Emma Royd (piles) which was quite apt because they used to tell me I was a pain in the bum. Ok....... I know they aren't very original, but it used to make us laugh.

When I was in hosp having my first there was a woman in there who was calling her baby daughter Candida until the nurses pointed out that it was a nasty infection.

We had such a hard time choosing names for my grandchildren as their surname is Hunt. Anything beginning with C was out for obvious reasons. Heide and Adam got binned. It was all very difficult.
I did have a doctor once called Richard Parrott. A lovely bloke but I don't suppose it helped being nicknamed Dicky Bird! |

I currently look after a lady with the name A.Dick and that is no word of a lie. I'm sorry, but if I got with a fella and his last name was DICK I would NOT marry him.....especially when my first name begins with A. :o |
