Remember that Cat washer Video?

Those of you that know me of old know that I hate housework, a few more will know that of all the housework I really hate, it's washing dishes.

Without a word of a lie for the short time my lad moved in with me when he was between houses, we used paper plates and plastic cutlery, rather than fight over who had to do the washing up. (Arguments about who should burn the food were another thing!).

Big surprise however, I was given a dishwasher, wow! I can start using proper plates.
The dishwasher has served me well, once every few months, (well let's face it when the wife left we had an 18 place service set, (she always wanted me to make friends)) I fill the washer and set it to power wash.

I have also recently got a kitten, I tease a few of you by pretending I don't like it but that's me, today because I couldn't stand the smell and found the mold on the plates to be more than even I could stand I filled the washer, I even remembered to put the cats food dish in there, after all it deserves a clean dish.

That's when the 'phone went, After finding that I had won a 50p prize and all I had to do was spend £10 a minute to claim I hung up and went back to my chores.

I was just about to close the washer door when I remembered there is a top spray that because the washer is old needs to be physically moved into the correct position.

I bent down to correct this and then saw my kitten,(the cat with no name)at the back of the washer, busily licking the remains off it's dish. If I hadn't been so lucky would one of you been able to recommend a way to get cat hairs off my dishes?

Oh Less that would have been an awful mess. And as heartless as you pretend, would of even broken your heart eh? It is amazing wear these little creatures will go. Wait until it gets caught up in the drywall or down a drain pipe! Glad you discovered her!

Drywall? This is Accy Brian not Virginia. :D

Oh Less I'm so glad you found her before you set the thing on. Our cats are always getting shut in cupboards and things. Be sure you check the washiing machine or tumble tryer too.

I have a similar story - most people with a cat will have one - of a kitten getting into the oven.

I was grilling some bacon on the top shelf in the cooker. I pulled the cooker door open to turn the bacon over, then forgot to put it back up as I turned to the counter to butter some chunky bread. I turned back round and was just about to kick the cooker door up when I saw a paw inside the cooker trying to pull the bacon off from the back of the shelf. His head was dangerously close to the element. I grabbed his tail from under the shelf and pulled him out by it. The little blighter had just managed to get hold of a piece of bacon so when I pulled him out I pulled the bacon with him.

Could so easily have had cooked cat if I hadn't spotted his paw!

PS - that was only the first of his nine lives gone! Endless stories about that cat.

My grandmother's cat used to sleep in the 'warming oven' underneath the main oven in a big old range which was part of the fireplace. One of those old fashioned farmhouse kitchen blackleaded things. I can still here her saying, "Don't shut the oven door the cat is asleep in there!"

I was just searching the web and put 'lucky' in an English to Latin online dictionary and it came up with......

Felix Felicis

Yes, I think Grego is right....we humans think we choose the cat, but in truth it is often the other way about.......and cats will rarely stay somewhere unless they feel comfortable.

Re: Remember that Cat washer Video?

Is Felix the name then?

Margaret Pilkington 04-07-2007 19:37

Re: Remember that Cat washer Video?

Then maybe she should be called Felicity...or Fless......I think that would be a lovely name for her.

Oh dear, yet another culture question. You guys don't use what we call "drywall"? What do you put over studs before you either paint or wallpaper? Just plaster?

You may be talking about a partition wall, I'm not sure, allow me to sort of explain, this is a none load bearing wall that is made to divide parts of a building, it is made from wood and plasterboard, (don't know what you would call it but I feel sure you must use it).

Perhaps you might need to explain what you mean by studs, I can't see us being so diverse as to not use the same type of materials.

LancYorkYankee 05-07-2007 02:36

Re: Remember that Cat washer Video?

Nah, it sounds like plasterboard and drywall are about the same. Studs are the 2 X 4s (placed at 16 inches) that make up the partitians.

Whew, and I was thinking there was yet another mystery I had to uncover! LOL

It sounds about the same, the plaster is contained between layers of thin cardboard but with the wood work and insulation makes a reasonable wall for general purposes.

Re: Remember that Cat washer Video?

I've just googled, (yes it was painful) and dry wall is the same as plasterboard.
