Son asked his mother the following question.

"Mum, why are wedding dresses white?"
The mother looks at her son and replies,
"Son,this is to show your friends and relatives
that your bride is pure"
The son thanks his mum and goes of to double-check
this with his father.

"Dad, why are wedding dresses white?"
The father looks at his son and says,
"Son,all household appliances come in white.

My wedding dress was pink (Yuk, don't believe I wore Pink !).. was determined never to be called a hypocrite. Reckon that is the 8th deadly sin.. :D

My second was ivory.

Was it not supposed to be a sign of chastity, if a lady went to the alter as a 'virgin' they wore white, if they were in the family way they wore pink:confused:

Humph .. least I was honest, how many brides wore/wear white and no way are they the virgin queen. What the heck does it matter anyway ..s'long as you look gorgeous on yer wedding day.

What about the men then !! Course we wouldn't expect them to be virginal would we, and wear white. Get them in pink that's what I say .. :D

Mary Queen of Scots was the first Royal bride to wear white. It was really only made fashionable when Queen Victoria got married in white to Prince Albert. Throughout the nineteenth century it wasn't de rigeur to marry in white, you could go up the aisle in any colour except black or red, which signified mourning or prostitution respectively.

It was really only in the twentieth century that white became the colour of choice for most brides.
