Frogs

I was speaking to a friend of mine last night who lives in the springhill area of town. She was telling me to expect A Summer's outbreak of frogs in the area. Has anyone else heard anything about it?

mez 01-02-2004 10:21

mmm, not sure bout that one depends how many & were they start from init.

Ernie 01-02-2004 15:21

It must be a rumour, it's warmer in France in the summer than it is here.

Mik Dickinson 02-02-2004 08:40

Due to the warm summer last year there is a strong possibility of it.

Tealeaf 02-02-2004 10:52

Does hot weather make the frogs breed more or do the tadpoles have a better chance of survival?

mez 02-02-2004 18:17

doesnt it depend on wot type of frog?

Mik Dickinson 02-02-2004 21:08

Apparently hot weather gives the tadpoles a hugher chance of survival.Tadpoles swim on the top part of the water and their predators apparently prefer deeper water when it gets hot

Tealeaf 03-02-2004 07:52

So who/what are Tadpole predators? Was'nt their a film of that name with Arnold Schwartzburger in it? I don't remember any tadpoles though.

Mik Dickinson 03-02-2004 08:16

Newts fish and the like are the predators, nad actually tealeaf it was the film with burnt burger a leading politician in America

Tealeaf 03-02-2004 10:27

Predator Fish in Ozzy? What sort? How big do they grow? Where do they live? I've seen a few little fish in Tinker Brook, but surely they can't be that vicious? If they are, can someone please tell Tony Blair.....we may finally have found his WMD's...

Mik Dickinson 03-02-2004 20:56

must be the loan sharks then

janet 04-02-2004 11:25

Cazzer have you heard anything about this?

Re: Frogs

Further to our conversations on Easter Sunday, I think A Summers outbreak of frogs is probably more manageable than A Summers outbreak of rabbits!!!!;)

ShortStuff 13-04-2004 19:39

Re: Frogs

Re: Frogs

im personally more worried about the rat problem than some frogs because i remember last year there was actually a big thing about their not being enough frogs and experts were worried about them becoming a rare sight in some areas!
and already i have seen my cats with two rats this year......im sick of the worry now.

Sparkologist 31-05-2004 19:08

Re: Frogs

I heard a tale today that there were some frogs and geckos and such like in glass tanks/display cabinets at the Great Harwood Show, so obviously they were for sale.
My question is: What do you feed them on to keep them alive and kicking

ANNE 31-05-2004 22:25

Re: Frogs

There are quite a few rabbits up spring hill.
In fact i have heard there is a bigger infestation of Rabbits than frogs.

mez 31-05-2004 22:27

Re: Frogs

Mik Dickinson 01-06-2004 06:23

Re: Frogs

You know that is a good question. What would you feed frogs. In the wild i believe they eat insects and the likes but i have never seen a tin of dried insects in a pet shop

mez 08-06-2004 07:45

Re: Frogs

i would have thought that quite a lot ate stuff from wet ponds? is it algi or as some seem to do they eat grass//

lettie 08-06-2004 14:36

Re: Frogs

It's not just in Springhill Mez. Allegedly there was a sudden infestation of rabbits in the Arden Hall area last thursday evening. Me and Grego actually saw a couple of them... :D

Ceejache 08-06-2004 15:08

Re: Frogs

The rabbits have there for a while - I think since they took the play area/swings etc away.

Re: Frogs

Heh, frogs are cool. You can like catch them and keep them as pets and such, but most mothers wouldn't allow that... And sudden oiutbursts of frogs arent to uncommon...

WillowTheWhisp 24-06-2004 23:19

Re: Frogs

One year the 'ponds' at Stoneyhurst college were absolutely full of frogs

Doug 07-07-2004 23:46

Re: Frogs

I finally got to read this thread Mez; I take on board what you say about hot summers and the frogs, not to mention the rabbits.

I bet some of the ladies up there are over the moon with the thought of it. Well I’ll buzz off now and let you get on with it. If it is hot in summers ladies enjoy yourselves and take it all in…You never know when there going to go flat these summers, life can be dull then.

For some, I don’t suppose there’s now’t like a frog to brighten life up, or a fluffy bunny……

I like a Fluffy bunny or is that....
