Re: Pending Holidays?

Thanks LYY.:)

Here I am moaning again, but I had a terrible weekend. Another weekend were my muscles were too rigid to dress myself, and I spent most of Saturday and Sunday blubbing and feeling sorry for myself, and because I was all of a dither, I was shaking like a one flippered seal. I was meant to, but couldn't, go to a barbie at my godfather's. They kindly brought me down some food, which was sweet, but also embarrassing, as I was still in a right old state. My mum stayed, and was her usual calming and brilliant self, until I was better.

However...I'm feeling much more perky tonight. My neurologist put me in touch with another of his patients with Parkinson's, who is the same age as me, and we've become great friends. He too has been down, and struggling to cope with the advancement of the disease, but he phoned me tonight, after returning from holiday with his wife and new son, a changed man. He saw the neurologist and they've doubled his drugs, and he says the change is amazing. He can walk better, his muscles aren't as rigid and don't freeze as much.

This has really cheered me up, as most of the time the drugs seem to be less and less effective for me. So tomorrow I'm off to see my G.P. to double my pills, to see if I can have the same miraculous change before my holiday.

So hopefully when I'm floating in the azure waters of the Ionian Sea, with the hot sun beating down on my body, I'll be able to control my shaking arm so I don't keep going round in circles.:D

Sorry for moaning, but in a way I've been dreading the holiday, but now feel much more positive, and am looking forward to getting away.:)

So sorry to hear you've had a bad weekend, thankfully you have got your lovely mum and friends to lean on. Hope you get sorted at the doctors tomorrow and then you can look forward to your holiday. You have every right to moan so if it makes you feel better to get it off your chest I you just do so.

Re: Pending Holidays?

Thanks so much for your willingness to share your trials with us Rindy. I really hope we can all get to the point that sharing these sorts of stuff with our Accyweb mates is/can be/should be something more of us are willing to do. I KNOW it's not "the British way" but ****** that.

I think that suggestion of having a separate thread for thiis sort of thing is a GREAT idea. Mods, is this feesible?

Anyhoo, I do hope the med adjustment helps out. Also please remember bruva Rindy, anytime you want to hop into one of the PD trials at Johns Hopkins or other area UNiversities/hospitals, our door is always open for you to have a place to stay at!

Have a happy and safe Holiday all you lucky enough to be off!

Re: Pending Holidays?

My G.P. was fantastic today.

He's drawn me a graph to show how I should try and regulate the amount of dopamine I need to function better, and has told me to self medicate, to see what works best. Though he did tell me what dose not to exceed!

So hopefully my hols will be happy, and thanks very much for the good wishes x :)

That sounds like a positive result from the doc Rindy. Hope you have a great holiday.

I've only just come back from 5 weeks in a caravan so as you can imagine we haven't got much planned for the rest of the year apart from another trip to Morecambe to see a PJ Proby concert in October and a probable trip down south to visit family and an overnight trip to London to a show.

I went about 20 years ago  Was okay and would go back but I guess it's changed a lot by now. Think somebody who has been more recently would be better commenting on what it's like now.

I steayed at the Sahara Beach hotel which looks like it is still popular. It's a bit out of the way from the main areas but it's close to the airport if you don't like travelling for hours when you land ( it's about 15 minutes lol )

Some reviews here for you ;

I'm curious, why doesn't anyone over in Accyland ever seem to come over to the States? The dollar is way down against the pound so you'd get alot more for your money then in years past. Is it the European Union thing that makes all of Europe more inviting?

If it's me, I pronmise I'll leave you alone. Heck, you probably wouldn't even see me!:p

Seriously, if anybody does plan on a visit to the States, we'd be more than happy to put you up (or put up with you:rolleyes:) for at least a few days!

Heck, do I need to plan an Accyweb Meet over here to get you guys over? Free drinks?? LOL

If it was me I would probably be over every year but it's down to cost. The main destination for Brits is of course Florida. The flight is costly enough but then you start to throw in the park tickets and the cost soars. Not enough dollars in the pay packet at the end of week for regular travel lol

we would like to go back to the states, just the caravan this year though, got it brand new last year so we decided to make full use of it this year, and then save up for maybe a trip back to the states, been to florida, los angeles, las vegas(taking in the grand canyon) and two years ago we went on a tour to memphis and nashville should have included new orleans but it was the year the hurricane struck. if we do get a chance to go back i would to go to new england and see that part of the states. marg.

If you want somewhere slightly nearer where there is a good mix of life and relaxation try Crete, better than Tunisia in my opinion :)

I've just got back this morning from a week at our caravan near Garstang. It was fantastic, I could have easily stayed another week, but unfortunately the people of Ossy need their beer serving!!!

Harry had a great time and finally managed to get him into a good routine of sleeping (because he's been a nightmare with it for months) all that running around and fresh air he was asleep early every night, although this did mean that he got up early in the morning to!! lol. but i'm not complaining, it did him the world of good.

Grrrrr!! I don't want to go back to work tonight! :(
