This is true willow but even the gray ones are fun to watch.

Re: unseen
I had a sweet little experience a few years ago when I was quietly watching a squirrel digging up some of its little store of acorns. It took one inside a hole in a tree and then came scuttling back, got another one, ran over to me, dropped it at my feet and then scuttled off. :)

Re: unseen
I saw a grey one driving back through Hapton last Saturday. It had no idea of the green cross code. How do I get the remnants of fur from my tyres

I'd suggest one less Weetabix, far too quick at this time of morning :D |
Re: unseen
We are over-run with grey squirrels here, they run along the fence-tops and pinch bird food from gardens. I sometimes put nuts out on the patio for them but they'll only take them early in the morning. At Dunham Massey, a National Trust house and grounds near Altrincham and only a couple of miles from me, they are so tame they will take food from your fingers. They sit next to the path leading to the house and wait to be fed.
I can't remember the last time I saw a red squirrel but when I was first married and lived out in the country, in Rutland, there were lots of them. Such a shame they have been replaced by the greys in so many places. |

Re: unseen
Channel 4 8.30pm tonight. One use for the squirrels
Taking an unusual turn, they then catch some grey squirrels, seeking to overturn people’s conceptions of them as pests. After foraging for a wide variety of plants, including pennywort and old man’s whiskers, they take the beautifully tender squirrel meat and combine it with damson sauce, brown sugar and a range of spices to serve it up as 'Peking duck', wrapped in pancakes, to mouthwatering effect and great acclaim from the locals.
