charity

ive been thinking a lot recently about doing something for charity (cancer care) mum died of cancer 16 years ago and i feel i need to do something to at least partly help with there funds, i dont know what yet, or how, but does anyone fancy doing something not too strenuos (sp) with me for a cancer charity?

does anyone know if park lee hospice is still open? i'd like to do something for that if it is, mum spent some of her last days there

AND BEFORE I GET THE SNIPES FROM NEIL....no i aint going soft ;);)

Re: charity

tel no for park lee 342808.

I already donate by regular instalments to cancer research but will def sponsor you flashy

Re: charity

How about organising a Bring and Buy? Or is that too ambitious? Last time I did one we had a free venue because it was at the old folks home we were raising money for. My late MIL spent her last days is Park Lee and I wouldn't mind being involved too as long as it's not on a Sunday.

Re: charity

I'll definetly contribute can't promise I'll get involved but if circumstances allow it will do no problem!!!

Re: charity

cheers Lesley, ok all we need now is a venue, maybe for a saturday so willow can make it, we could even have a jumble sale, you dont see many of those nowadays, i'm sure we could all collect some things between us...seen as most of you are from the Accy area i think that would be a great place to have it

Re: charity

It may come as a suprise but id help you out way i could as that IS a well worth task

Re: charity

My husband Len was in the Hospice in July for the week before his death - peaceful atmosphere and wonderful nursing staff - we asked for donations instead of floral tributes and had a bucket collection at Accy Stanley and raised hundreds of pounds for the Hospice and McMillan nurses.

Re: charity

Let me know the plans Flashy, and I will help in any way I can.

Re: charity

OK, so anybody got any ideas for a venue?

Oh, and it needs to be well publicised but if it's for charity a lot of shops let you put little posters (A4) in their windows.

flashy 10-10-2007 10:51

Re: charity

right so a jumble sale type thing is agreed then? we can leave it till after christmas if needs be, we will be more likely to get donations of clothes and toys from people after christmas

WillowTheWhisp 10-10-2007 11:38

Re: charity

People will probably have more time after Christmas too.

I hope the poster will be a little more colourful than the logo you did. If you remember a room full of people said it was a little drab  :p :D:D:D

WillowTheWhisp 10-10-2007 15:53

Re: charity

What logo was that?

flashy 10-10-2007 16:12

Re: charity

Re: charity

Flashy I've been thinking about this(hard work for me) why don't you get in touch with Harry Grayson? He is somethung big at Park Lee and he is also the councillor for Rishton. Now I know you want to have this charity do in Accrington, maybe with his influence as a councillor he can help you get somewhere to hold the event cheap or even free. Just a thought and then more money for the hospice at the end of it.

Up to you Flashy would have thought somewhere more central myself. As I say it's your baby so you decide I'll help all I can:)

WillowTheWhisp 13-10-2007 13:15

Re: charity

Town Hall would be good if you could get it for free. :D

flashy 13-10-2007 14:41

Re: charity

ere Bernie its not MY baby, its EVERYONES baby, i think we should ALL decide on where the best place is for it, i know we cant actually involve the name ACCYWEB with it though...lets get some places that we know we can have for free first then between us all we can decide whats the best

BERNADETTE 13-10-2007 14:46

Re: charity

I know we are all helping but the original idea was yours and a very good one a that. Do you want me to try and get hold of Harry Grayson? I know him from when I worked in Rishton.

flashy 13-10-2007 14:48

Re: charity

yes please Bernie, it'll be after christmas when we want it

BERNADETTE 13-10-2007 14:58

Re: charity

No problem will start the ball rolling and see what I can do to help.

flashy 13-10-2007 17:18

Re: charity

thanx Bernie

BERNADETTE 08-12-2007 20:21

Re: charity

Are we still doing doing this? Just that I spoke to Harry the other night and he said to contact him and he would try to help. Just that they need to raise £1:8M every year so every bit of help is needed.

flashy 09-12-2007 07:25

Re: charity

yes Bernie if we can get a venue sometime in January/February then its all good, ive started putting some bits into a box that we can sell, got a few books so far, anyone any ideas on a venue yet?

Well if it's a brew I drink a concoction of dandelion 'coffee' and Caro Extra! :D I sort of mix my own in a because the dandelion coffee is too mild on it's own but the Caro Extra is way too strong! :o

Otherwise I drink most cold drinks apart from alcoholic ones.

Why is that middle sentence refusing to be purple?
