Was in my local Trader Joes (grocery store) today and along with groceries I picked up a bottle of Bushmills Irish whisky , the youngster on the till (late teens, early 20s) scanned it and "said is this any good " . I'm busy punching my pin # into the keypad and replied , " Yep, it's like Mothers milk" ..........youngster on cash-till .."Is that what you drink it with ? " ..............:eek: :eek: :eek: ;)

LOL , that is good , I've heard about the program but never seen it , just the odd clip , think its on that web-sight that flashytart posted a link to a couple of weeks back , will have to check it out , no way would we ever get that in TV over here , the religious loonies would go ape,

Bitty is one of the more er...palatable characters. There is no one sacred from their portrayls. It's very much love it or hate it. Very politically uncorrect, and I love it.:D

They're currently making An American version. They said that there will still be a couple of the old characters but most will be new American ones. I don't know how they will go down in America??

Did the cashier not ask you for ID steeljack? My Grandad got asked in Florida once (he was 67 at the time!!!)

They have tried that before (re-making British TV shows to suit an American audience) usually with horrible results , the latest one I can think of is 'the office' even thou the US version is quite popular it is no-where as good as the Brit version , Americans can't do or understand sarcasm or ironic type humour , it goes completly over their heads .
We still have this 'puritan' thing in US telvision , like the uproar with the Janet Jackson thing a few years ago when she bared her breast , its ok to have 20 different cop/crime shows showing violence and dead bodies just so long as the good guys win in the last five minutes , but showing a nipple or a bare bum is a complete no no . :confused: :confused:

I agree about American remakes. The best example I can think of is Queer As Folk. We had 1 series then a 2 part special, because Russell T Davis who wrote it didn't want to push it. But the American version is into its 6th season now and its just got a bit silly.

The Little Britain one isn't a remake though its just Matt Lucas & David Walliams making a new series set in America that will be shown in America.

resurecting a thread fom a couple of weeks ago .......tonight I watched an American remake of a British TV program called 'Viva Blackpool' only this time it is called 'Viva Laughlin' and its total crap , never seen the British version but hope it was better than the production produced for Ameican viewers
the local rag had this to say ...For pete's sake, CBS, sing 'Viva' like you mean it
