They taste like game I suppose, I've tried Phesant before and Grouse many years back.....strong tasting chicken is all I can think of to describe all three...dint like any of them. Perhaps the new cook book will make them taste more appealing. :)

Oooh White Rabbits everybody. Almost forgot it this month.

Rabbit stew is much nicer than roast rabbit. You need to have a very lean chubby young rabbit for roasting otherwisse they can be quite tough. I love rabbit stew. If you get one from the butcher and he cracks the bones for you (Why do they do that?) do be careful when you eat it as you could get splinters.

If I ask my butcher for a nice fat rabbit I'll be ok then? My boyfriends dad told me today that theyre really nice. I am going to ask my local butcher about one on monday.

Just to let everyone know, although nobody has any reason to care, I bought a rabbit for £2 from the butchers the other day and forgot to say. Don't know if thats a reasonable price or not but I'm going to cook it for my mum at the weekend :D

MargaretR 04-12-2007 16:49

Re: December White Rabbits

I hope you froze it - it's several days to 'weekend' and although rabbit is classed as game, it shouldn't be left long enough to get 'high'

It was already frozen, the butcher seemed to be saving it for himself! I am lucky to have a butcher right at the corner of the street, means I can get fresh meat for my tea every day which is nice. Not too keen on buying it at the supermarket, I like to pick my piece.

Just to let everyone know, i made my mum the rabbit yesterday and it was gorgeous but she didnt even eat hers! I think evidence of how yummy it was though is the fact that my two year old brother ate all his and then nagged for more :D victory! :Banane25:
