Duel

Completely useless thread this .. just a little whinge.

Watched about 5 minutes of this rubbish tonight .. not the best speaking person in the world, but somethings do annoy me. Will this presenter please realise the title is Duel, not Jewel, same as :-

Dew is not Jew.
Tulip is not chewlip.
Tuesday is not chewsday.

Also wander and wonder are 2 different words, and it is chimney not chimley.

Just some little things annoy me :(

Oh my goodness, Katex. We could be here all night talking about this. :)

These are the ones I would like to mention.

It is 'should have' not 'should of'

Where, were and we're may sound the same but mean different things.

Same goes for there, their and they're.

It is hospital not hospikal.

Oooh that's better. :D

Re: Duel

It’s like when presenters talk about drawrings when they actually mean drawings.

If you are going to appear on telly, at least talk properly.

Re: Duel

This is the one that really annoys me, its Thursday not Fursday, Thread not Fred, Thankyou, or should it be Fankyou?. Not heard yet by any TV presenters but time will tell.

Re: Duel

Oh and the tongue in yer gob  is pronounced as in lung ...tongs, as in thongs are the one you use to move the coal around in the fire or curl your hair.

It is 'If I were' 'I wish I were' (exceptions to the rule) Future subjunctive tense.

Director as in du .. not Director as in Dior Straits.

Re: Duel

To go boldly not To boldly go.

Don't split your infinitives. :)

This is my kind of thread. :D

Just knew you would be the one to reply here Cashy ..:p

I don't really care how people pronounce things at the end of the day either, or their accents, just odd words from people who should know better... must be my Speech and Drama qualifications coming out.

Just this Duel guy really annoys .. after all, sure you would have plenty to say if Jonathan Ross was given the job as a 'Cwicket' commentor .. :D

I cringe when people say 'nofink' and 'somefink'
