It's A Bargain But, Ooooh! The Smell!

I've just picked up, well, had delivered a bargain, no way even with Mick's assistance could I have carried it home.

We had gone for a brisk walk into town because the pub's in Church keep insisting on being shut.

On the way we passed a well known second hand shop in the window was a cabinet full to overflowing with someone's no longer wanted collection of Mozart c.d.'s including the case a bargain!

So rather than jump right in there and then we decided to continue to a local hostelry and immediately went into discussion mode.

After several pint's of conviction I called in and had a close look at the contents approximately 160-180 c.d.'s some cases never opened all appearing well looked after.

I struck a deal with the shop owner who kindly delivered them this evening, so I've spent this time getting to know long forgotten snippets and randomly putting on stuff, (can classical music be described as 'stuff'?), that I hadn't heard before.

Only now 4 hours later as the cabinet has started to reach room temperature have I noticed that the house it was in must have been damp and full of cat's, the aroma is almost unbearable, the only one enjoying herself now is my cat, she loves this new play-pen I have introduced for her, is there anyone out there that could suggest a way of removing the smell but keeping the c.d.'s?

P.S. One Black c.d. cupboard for sale very, very, cheap, buyer collects and supplies their own face mask.

Fire should sort out the cabinet. Come to think of that is probably the best way to sort out the junk inside it as well.

Bi-carb gets rid of most pungent smells...including cat wee.

Thanks Margaret, I'll remember that for the next time I really should change the cat's litter tray, it will save me a job!

No, it isn't hard...just make up a strong solution of bi-carb in hot water, add a bit of cold tap water and then put the liquid into a spray bottle and squirt it onto the cabinet......leave it for a while and then wipe off with soapy water.

Perhaps your idea of a match and a packet of firelights was better...just take the CD's out first Less :D

Everything mentioned so far has been genuine, including the cat's tray, but I did put it in 'anything goes', so feel free to wander.:alright:

Well Bi-carb does work...but if you can get your hands on one of those little steam generating machines, they work even better...and will sanitise the litter tray too.

So the CD cabinet is just an excuse for his age, you could be on to something there :D

Maybe Mel could help Less by telling him how she has managed since you moved in :p:D

I have tried those and found them to be completely useless, unless you want to strip wallpaper.

Yes Dave, but in your case I'm sure it took weeks perhaps even months to reach that condition?

Mine has only taken hours and I would rather be given the chance of D.I.Y. than importing something I will have to take years to beat! :o
