Re: Baby name help!

your parents gave you a great name which will last , 60 year old 'grandma Yolanda' sounds good , a 60 year old grandma Chardonnay sounds and also tastes bad Yolanda - Origin and Meaning of the name Yolanda at BabyNames.com,
so please show the same respect as your parents , give her a name which will stand her thru time , think you should give her at least one name from the Bible ....... if she's a little 'fire-cracker" Barbara works well....the patron saint of explosives
just an opinion , but for you and your partner to decide

Think, maybe, Steeljack that in 60 years time, there will be lots of strangely named pensioners, so don't think will be an issue, although understand your thoughts in this year of 2008.
Will get shortened to Maddie though irrespective of how much effort is made not to.

I think it's nice when you give a name that someone in your family has.

Have none of your grandmother's got wonderful Spanish names you could use?

Re: Baby name help!

Its a matter of personal choice though.

I know if i had kids if it was a girl i would call her Sarah Elizabeth - and call her lily on a day to day basis ...

But its up to you and your partner what you want to call her how about you calling her maddison and he comes up with another name and then you can argue which comes first. Because if he comes up with a name - it might sound better as .... maddison rather than maddison ...... Just an idea.

Always said if I had a girl, it would be kimberley, my daughter is called samantha??? Men huh! No, it was a mutual agreement, my partner did not like kimberley, so we agreed on samantha.

Re: Baby name help!

If your partner has no input, he cant very well complain if he doesnt like the name you choose, you girls are good at ultimatums, lol, tell him if there is no input, Maddison it will be, that should make him come up with ideas.

Re: Baby name help!

It depends on your surname to. Don't forget to check the initials together as well! My boys are Samuel Alex and Thomas Oliver, our last name begins with 'M' so their initials spell out their short names, which we think is cool!

Personally I love the name Maddie but not Maddison. Whats your son called maybe stick to the same letter like Thomas & Tillie for example. As mentioned above is a very personal thing so take your time and play around with lots of names.

HTH's
Rhonda

PS congratulations on being the proud owner of a 'pink one'!

My son is called Carl like his dad, thats why this time i want to choose something, her surname will be Obrien so to me Madison Obrien sounded quite nice, like my mum said yesterday she could see a very intelligent young woman with that name

It does sound good Yolanda .. this name is definitely growing on me, and you certainly need a hard consonant before the vowel '0'. I think it sounds like a movie star, she will certainly stand out because of her name I think.

flashy 27-04-2008 17:04

Re: Baby name help!

i suppose if it where upto your fella Yolanda he'd call her Carla ;) Madison Obrien sounds lovely, tell him to naff off ;)

Re: Baby name help!

I always said that i'd call a boy Harry, i've always liked it and its my Great Grandads name. Everyone thinks now though that i've named him after Harry Potter, although this isn't true. He is called Harry Mark. I wanted his middle name to be after my Dad but my Dad is called Gary. Harry Gary.....!!! I don't think so. So i took my Dads middle name which is Mark.

If I ever have a girl i'd like to call her Rhiannon.

Yolanda25 28-04-2008 17:35

Re: Baby name help!

i was gonna call the baby harry as well if he was to be a boy after my grandad as well lol
