Can't wait to hit the sack.

Not what you think, you naughty lot :-

Have been delivered a new carpet/bed today. Long overdue. Gawd if those dust mites could speak.

The bed must have been at least 30 years old ..hurry up Environmental Health and collect from me drive... the burns,(too many fags), the stains, broken springs, all tells a story.

Not just the sexual encounters/pillow talk, but the memories of my children/grandaughter climbing next to me for comfort when they were sick or begged a story from Roald Dahl to Charles Dickens; these will be embedded forever in what appears to be straw fillings. The arguments/discussions during my marriage. Menopausal stains ( you women will know). The springs sprouting from the mattress causing external injury to various parts of my body:eek:, and what could appear sad to some, the concave shape on the right hand side of this 4'6" width. double bed.

Although this new bed does appear to be at least one foot taller, just keeping me fingers crossed that I don't roll out in the middle of the night. :D The Damson/Gold Shinto duvet cover and pillowcase set surely makes up for this.

I wish myself sweet dreams, and if I eventually pass away in this new luxury of comfort, I will not have any regrets ...

Blimey! A 30 year old bed!

It was probably held together with dust mite faeces!

Glad to hear you've replaced it now.......and as Nina Simone said, Don't smoke in bed. :D

Enjoy. :D

Smoking in bed is more than likely to become 1/2 a day out with the undertaker. Believe me I've seen the aftermath of smoking in bed quite a number of times and its not a pretty site.
Think about your children and grandchildren and the effect it will have on them.

You really kind you lot, am going to really try ... cost me an arm and a leg to re-furbish my bedroom, but was really trying to be a little sentimental here, and hope you would come back with lovely stories of armchairs, settees, etc., memories like. :D

'Tis Accylass .. all Next lol ... was trying to get some piccies up for you, but nothing seems to be working tonight. Can't download from their site, and camera will not behave :(

Didn't go for a memory bed, seemed a bit soft to me, although people who have them say take time to get used to them, but once there, are OK.

Now retiring, step ladder at the ready .. Offers from any of our male members always welcome for a hitch up ... :D:D

I have a mahogany stained sewing box which my dad made for me. The legs are cotton mill 'picking sticks'. It is solidly made but a little ungainly looking, but I won't ever get rid - even though I don't sew anymore.

Sweet dreams.

Carry on smoking, just be careful.

A shared post-coital cigarette is hardly as romantic if you're both stood on the back door step.:D

Katex ....I do hope you will not be posting details of breaking-in events of the new mattress, Let's face it , it's not like you're an old slapper that lives up Ferngore/Woodnook/Intack living on benefits

I dont have any of my old furniture either :(

i used to have a big footstool/pouf thingy that, when i was massivly pregnant was the only place i could sleep.I also used it when i was in labour.

I used to have a table that my grandad made me out of a tree he cut down in his garden, that might be in his shed somewhere actually lol

LOL .. no just an old slapper living down Clayton, however, will not be posting personal details ... ;)

Well, certainly had a good nights sleep, my problem has never been about getting to sleep and staying in that state .. waking up is my problem..:D

My brother still has three items of furniture from my parent's home :-

A sideboard which I think was my grandparent's too .. good and solid with wooden pegs, not nails.

Bedding Box ! .. heavens who has one of these now ? Again large and engraved wood, remember the Utility blankets being in there (still might be).

Dressing table in spare room. Had three way mirrors and memories of looking at the back of my hair before going out.

They do hold many memories, and can remember most of the items that were held in each drawer. Hankies/hair brushes in top drawer, then certain drawers which were allocated to the rest of us. Tin of sweets in Lyons coffee tin which my gran kept well-stocked .. etc.

Unfortunately, these days, people can afford to change their furniture with fashion, but are not as well made, unless you pay a year's salary for a piece.

Re: Can't wait to hit the sack.

Well, me old mattress and base are still awaiting collection (no problem for me), however, neighbours who are moving soon, have had one or two viewers, and as we have adjoining drives, requested if they could move it out of sight ... LOL. Well, yes, perfectly understand, (hangs head in shame) but Council will not collect if not where I said it would be. Compromised, and moved further down drive. They have now covered it with an old duvet cover, which is driving me crazy trying to stop the wind from carrying it over the hills and far away ... :D:D Gotta' get a life from these small incidents that incite me to humour.

Just want to say though, have now left fags downstairs and not taken to bed with me for three consecutive nights .... you lot made me feel ashamed and thank you for your caring ... will keep it up .... xx

Re: Can't wait to hit the sack.

You want old furniture?

The old sideboard is in the garage - along with one of the kitchen cabinets.... dad put them in there because he needed somewhere to put his stuff - roundabout 29 years ago he put them in there and that is older than me.

Then in the front room is a desk mum bought for my dad when i was about 4...

In the back bedroom is what was my brothers dressing table/wardrobe..... that is older than me for definate - cos bro is older than me and hes always had that. Also in the back bedroom is my bed from when i was about 13 because mine was the newer bed - bro took his old bed as a spare for his house....

I also have an old card table ....... which god knows how old that is ....

Also have a few chairs - which we've had for longer than being in this house spread around the house ...

Theres others but they've gone to my sisters on loan .....

If i can think of any more i'll post it later.....:D
