O.k. I'm posting it here so that it doesn't count towards my count for anything.

I'm all for accyweb being kept alive and am completely against folk just coming on and using the site for games.
(Wait for it, here it comes, it's either a 'but' or a 'however').

Well,(FOOLED YOU), I don't think it's right, if we must be protected from misuse, could we not at least help each other out? Instead of the 'karma' system couldn't we have a system of credits?

For example.
Someone, puts up a good post and they are awarded 'post credits' that would mean that if they have collected enough, on the day's they don't feel like posting anything they can use their smart-arse replies that someone else credited them for?
This would perhaps make folk, think about what they post and try a little harder, rather than just post any old carp just to get their posts up.

AND if post credits can be removed, perhaps folk like, erm, ME????
would be more careful about upsetting idiots?

By the way, I also think, (waits for screams of lynch him), that once a year perhaps on accywebs birthday, (March I think), every bodies karma and power points should revert to zero, why? because I for one have 3862 points that's pretty good about 1 point per post, but I've been here since well, around the beginning, what chance has someone new got to catch up unless every now and then we clear the score board?

Sorry dont agree.
If Ive read right Less then there will be a lot of people that would never get no where near the arcade. I can and often have gone weeks / months without karma / points whatever you want to call em. Dosent mean I post rubbish . (well sometimes I do :D) I just feel I contribute when I feel I have something to say.
So if I run out of points / karma , and there is nothing I want to contribute to i would nt get into the arcade. Even If I did contribute it dosent really mean I will get rewarded with points.
Maybe Ive read it wrong will try and read again just incase, but just my little input;):D

Good idea, I'd say you'll get a varied opinion about this..to someone who only posts nicey,nambi,pamby,lovey dovey,creepy crawly,stuff, then they might get upset if you take away the karma they have built up.;)

I'm trying to say that, rather than force people to post almost anything just to get into the arcade, if instead of karma, a person that posts something worth reading can be given a credit that they can use on a day they haven't anything to say and still be able to get into the arcade.

O.K. you haven't brought yourself to notice and been given much karma up to now, but if, you had a choice of a credit, that you could use, or a karma point that is as useful as a chocolate fire guard, which would you work towards?

I'm not saying your comments always have to be agreeing, just good, then when you have a quiet day and all you want to do is 'chill', into the arcade you go and sod everyone else, you've earned it. Unlike at the moment when we are all struggling just to make 5 posts, any 5 posts will do just grab something off the internet, no thought, no use to the site but your into the arcade!

So If I am reading right, we can still have the 5 a day thingy, but these credits would ensure you can get in without having to do that if ya so wished!! Yep, I can see how that could work.

Some people are just shy Less and cant think of much to say or might think that what they say would be daft so dont really say much at all would that not be penalising(sp) these people when it takes them all their time to be heard not everyone on here is gobby ya know! lol.

I see what your saying and to a point agree less , But who gives the point. Thaere are a few on here that could post till the cows come home and still wouldnt recieve point of other members. I for one would be just as guilty of it .
I wouldnt give a point to someone just becasue he/she may have posted a positive comment esp if in another thread we have just been at loggerheads, which you got to admit happens a lot on here.

If you were to automaticly recieve a point for posting in the more serious of catagories and contributing to that thread then yes its perhaps a good idea. But then it would mean more moderating .

If I am getting this right what Less means is instead of karma we give post credits. He mentioned it the other day when I sent him karma and I can see where he is coming from get a few post credits and if there is nothing you want to comment on you use them to get in to arcade. A good idea as long as people don't stop posting altogether.

Believe me, I wish the quiet people would speak up, the number of them that give me karma and also P.M. me, (without being seen posting on site), because they, (strangely), see me fighting their corner against the bullies that only want to take over.

The quiet people are the ones that need to be heard probably a breath of fresh air, I can type for England, I just wish we could get YOU to do the same, just be yourself and most of us will read and enjoy what you say.

Maybe they could only be given but not taken. Can't say I'm too bothered either way about it all, I've dabbled in the arcade but I'm rubbish at all the games so don't bother much :D

Just have a look at the thead today of a young lady who started a thread about a parking offence in Darwen......That's bullying.
Smart arsed comments don't come across the same as face to face conversation, but if someone calls you an idiot in negative Karma...would you call that friendly banter?
I too have the time and the patience to read all the threads...some good,some not so good, but I read them anyway.
If you are new to Accyweb and are not sure of what to do PM a mod and they will put you right, and they dont expect Karma.....or favours.

Good I'm glad that you can manage to read all the posts, do you have anyone there that can explain to you what they are about?

Not only can they P.M. mods but they can ask other members,

Perhaps that question would be better answered by a mod? I wouldn't want to put you in a position that forced you into doing me a favour!:D

Actually, today that question may need to be answered by a mod, because when I went to the arcade this morning it told me I had to make one post instead of as it has been saying five posts.

So either someone in control is doing me favours, or the system has been changed again, or because it's less than 24 hours since my last lot of posting I don't need to start from square one. I really don't know, Micks online so no doubt he'll throw some light on it for us.:)

I dont have the natural gift of the gab,and couldent possibly compete in some of the posts,even though i read them,i love the funny ones not the bitchy ones ,Probably thats why most of my posts are in anything goes. I love the arcade even though i am rubbish against you Accy lot....,,:alright:

had a think about this n my solution would be, (1) leave as it is fer first 12 months, after that i reckon people know if they are sticking around, (2) donate to the site or no arcade. that would help with upkeep n running of a good forum.realise that will not be popular with some- well Tough, if ya can't spare a few quid over 1 year its a poor do.
