Not being funny but i have noticed alot of swearing has started in general chat etc.....dont know the reason.It may be that were discussing sad and horrific subjects quite alot at the moment, but still lets keep it clean....please?

Mods-the posts i notice with will be reported.....although i feel im snitching :o

I do not think a thread like this is going to do any favours to Accyweb, we have good moderators who keep their eye constantly on swearing, undesirable subjects and text talk. You have to trust them to do their job, not point it out in a public thread; an insult to their capabilities, which, in turn, highlights it to any newer members and maybe stops them coming back to us.

If you notice anything untoward, private message them, they will take note and act on your comments.

It isn't from me....I do not like bad language...spoken or written...and will not use it except very very rarely....and then it is only the mild stuff.

Surely the mods rely on people to report posts which are offensive, they can't possibly read every post ?

This thread is insignificant regarding doing Accyweb favours when you see what has gone on in the vote rigging thread. :(

I see nothing wrong with a thread started by a concerned member reminding people about swearing. Maybe this thread alone will stop people from swearing.

The mods can't read every post everyday so yes we must, and I do, report things we see as wrong.

I have in the past reported posts that offend me and will have no hesitation in doing so in the future. As has been said the mods can't read every post. What I do think will put new members off is the constant sniping and name calling such as in the vote rigging thread. Come on folks if you have anything to say to each other do it by PM.

Even though threads do get reported, the mod's can't read every single post.

There's no harm in a gentle reminder once in a while.

Every business/chat line/government has to have a construction where you can report bad behaviour .. Accyweb has this construction to report upward to the moderators .. not up to the members to point it out publicly. Gets everyone thinking who are the guilty ones.e.g. when your own innuendos get a little too hot under the collar, would not point this out in a post, (well might :D) would ask the moderators to politely mention to you that 'tis not suitable for a family site. We have the luxury to complain in private.

Our moderators come on regularly to pull us back into line for excessive misuse of the English language .. would have been better to address this complaint to 'd committee' so to speak, and suggest they put up a thread similar to this .. democracy at it's best.

Surely it is up to the mods to point out if they think a thread should not have been posted. We had a similar one not long back posted by Garinda with no comeback from the mods. Might be better to let them do their job

Oh Chr......istopher Columbus, I must be guilty. I have this habit, every now and then when I'm feeling fairly light-hearted, of saying bl**dy and, even, b*gger. I never post either without appropriate asterisks and I don't mean to offend.

Seriously, I have no time for those who use foul language as a matter of course. I pity them on their apparent poverty of verbal skills. I've seen a little of it here, recently, but not so much as to be too obtrusive.

Im guilty of the text speak - but always try to correct it before i post sometimes it does slip through i apologise for past and future mistakes!!!! But i do my best not to swear because i know kids read the forum plus adults dont like to read it .... but the over 18s is exempt aint it?

I think the mods would apprecieate a thread like this to make evryone a little more aware.
I for one am as guilty as the next for lapsing in certain discussions, No offence intended by the way , But I do think by kitty bringing this up it helps the mods do a job that is already difficult on such a busy forum.

I posted this in Accrington forum news a year ago i think

It has been brought to the moderators attention that there is a lot more bad language on site than there used to be, also members are trying to get round the filters using ** ect.
As this is a family site and there are children on here
It has been decided to put a stop to this practice ALL posts with this type of content exept in the 18 section will be deleted without warning.
If you see any of this PLEASE report it

well seen as no one will admit to swearing on here then i will, most of you have swore on here at some point, your not all angels and stop making out that you are all so innocent, if you've done it then at least hold your hands up and say so and stop arse licking, it really does my head in when someone posts a thread like this (and i dont mean its a bad thread D) and your all 'oh it wasnt me', 'i didnt do it'...

Personal attacks on seemingly innocent threads, swearing, and thats just in the public forum.

We then have tales of woe from the chat room and threatening pms

Is there something in the water, or is this a permament state of affairs? Just so I know whether to pack my bags lol

There is a little Red triangle at the bottom left on every post if your not happy with something then use it .
the mods are not psychic if its over the pm system then report it.

I have been on daily for over a year now.
There have been spells when it was worse.
There are stirrers and helpers and people who amuse - a reflection of real life.
Sometimes the nasty ones overdo it but the mods here are very good at keeping order.
This forum will never be 'all sweetness and light', and it would get boring if it was.
Stick around - there are lots of decent people here.

I was not taking it as that its just people moan but dont report things
as a lot have said we cant look at every post but i do go through a lot in a morning and len does it at night.
but even if we see a personal attack if the person being attacked does not report it we just think they are not bothered and will leave it untill it is reported .

click on your profile and at the top right hand side you will have a few numbers, these are your karma points, note that number then next time you get some anonymous karma taken from you you can fathom out who's taken it, they can only take half of their own karma, say i took some i could only take 41 but give 82
