dad, dad can I have a swing...?

a swing?...I can make you one son...leave it with me..

I think we should put it right here...

then we get 2 posts, cement them in the ground making sure they are level....
http://i25.tinypic.com/2h88qcz.jpg

then we get some cross sections like this and bolt them to the wall and to the posts...

and like this too on the other side....
http://i28.tinypic.com/2mzirt1.jpg

and then we add some more cross sections till it looks like this..

then we attach the fixings and hang the swing...

and then we play!!!

woo hoo I gotta swing!

thing is it all cost way more than buying one from the shops but it was more fun to do!

And when it isn't needed as a swing any more you can grow trailing plants up it!

Has it been inspected by H&S executive and passed to some British Standards number ?

Thought not, expect a jobsworth council official to come round with a court order telling you to pull it down within 1 hour or face 20 years in prison :D

Re: dad, dad can I have a swing...?

there is already a summer jasmine, ivy and butterfly bush growing up it so it will be nicely covered come summer ( if it arrives )...and I think it may be always used for a swing at some point as that swing converts to a big swing till he's 3 and as I was told last night - when we have the next one:eek: they can also play on it too..
and I half expected the council to come round as the neighbours were a bit unsure about the size of it...but like most wooden garden structures - they aint permanent so no planning permission is required..but as it is the neighbours are fine with it and they dont mind as they hear the wee one laugh so much when he is on it..

We want to see the pictures when he asks for a house (a real one) too :D

Jack wanted a swing......he gets taken to the park at least 4 times a week so i wont be obliging.Poor lil Jack.No doubt when his older he will be accusing me of child abuse and neglect when he was 3 for not MAKING him a swing, never mind buying him one.
Ah well!

Well done C :)
