Maybe they won't - maybe they'll just re-cast the character. That's how he got into it in the first place. Jack Sugden was originally played by Andrew Burt.

When I saw the name I though that seems familiar, came as a bit of a shock when read the story, like flashy said din't know he'd been ill, mind you I don't wath Emerdale much hese days

That is a shame.. was a bit shocked when i found out the other day. Turns out he died of prostate cancer!
