What does your avatar say about you?
 

When you choose an avatar do you think 'What impression of me do I want to give?'
or do you think 'that's trendy/novel?'
or some other reason, such as showing a photo of your child, pet, or favorite celeb because they are important to you.

I have noticed that other members reaction to postings can be influenced by avatars.
It is inevitable that this happens, because your facial signals and body language cant be seen here, and the visual image of your avatar is the only visual signal available.

I want to give the impression of a quirky, elderly,homely woman with a sense of humour (which is what I aspire to be).
That is why I have used Les Dawson in curlers and my current one of 3 old biddies in Last of the Summer Wine.

So have you given your avatar much thought lately?
If you are getting aggro responses to your posts - perhaps you should.

Mine right now is my old home in Clayton {thanks Kate** .... I don't know if it says anything about me, but I like looking at it. I also have it on my desk top .... maybe it's a "roots" thing.

I Have thought about this before Margaret, i put allsorts as my avatar (whatever i fancy, at the time i fancy a change) although i tend not to choose ones that similar to others' avatars because it could be confusing as to who posted (i look at avatars rather than screen names to see who has posted).
I love looking at people avatar's-as you say its what we get to see instead of the actual person.

Mines Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi playing the guitar solo from Keep The Faith , 5ft from the end of my nose in Manchester a few weeks ago..........what it says about me i don`t know....although i do change it from time to time, i usually just think mmm that might make a good avatar so i stick it up there......:rolleyes:

I think mines self explanetary,been a Man United fan all my life and switched to FC United in 2005 because of the Glazer takeover.I think the wording on the flag says it all.

I've had Stan and Babe for quite a while because I absolutely love them. Before that I had Groucho, who I also hero-worship. I guess I go for anything humourous.

Some time ago someone started a similar thread and misspelled avatar as aviator. I though I'd be dead clever (never works, does it?) and I put up a picture of Charles Lindberg, complete with leather helmet and goggles, getting into a plane. It was fine until someone asked me, seriously, if it was a picture of me (I'm a woman, fer gawd's sake) in my youth. :(

Unfortunately, my current lifestyle is not suited to owning a cat, but that doesn't stop me from fussing every stray moggy that crosses my path.
