Living alone is no excuse for not cooking.
I cook in bulk and fill jam jars and freeze them, so I always have ready meals in the freezer - bolognaise, chilli con carne, beef stew, and a variety of home made thick soups.

Re: Whats for dinner tonight?

I do like to cook, and cook every other day for my mum and dad, but by the time I get home i'm too tired to be bothered cooking for me. Your right though margaret, i should, I would be a lot healthier and a lot thinner if i did cook proper meals for myself. I just cant be bothered!

Tonight was 'clear out the fridge' night. I ended up having two skinny pork steaks and two skinny bits of steak, about a mouthfull each after i had cooked them. They were really delicious though and I thoroughly enjoyed them.
What did everybody else have?

We had gammon pizza.

It's gammon topped with cheese, tomatoe, mushrooms, peppers, pepperoni and chicken finished under the grill/in the oven.

Absolutely delicious.

Roast beef, mash and roast spuds, carrots, brocolli, cauli, yorkshire puds and gravy. Followed by chocolate gateau and cream

Re: Whats for dinner tonight?

I had no idea gammon was so popular. I buy it for my mum and make it with mushrooms and toms and a scrambled egg done in the juice. She loves it.
Does anybody still eat pudding or desert after meals?
I always make sure that my mum and dad have something after their main meal and I make jelly for them about twice a week, I put fruit in it to buck it up a bit and they have either cream or ice cream on it.
They are in their 80's by the way but with very healthy appetites.
My dad has always been a vegetarian so cooking for him is sometimes a challenge.

Yeh, have had threads like this before, but doesn't matter, we don't eat the same things for dinner every night, do we ? :D So I will let you know that I had :-

1 - omelette (3 eggs)
1 -salad (various lettuces, orange/red peppers, radishes, tomato, cucumber laced in Italian and Caesar dressing)
1- piece of stonebaked garlic bread.

Swilled down with 3 glasses of Italian Soave.

Don't do puddings/cakes/biscuits, etc.

As Žim indoors was working all day I had to cook. Not something IŽm too clever at and I really wanted to have a Sunday pint.

I ended up cooking lamb, roast spuds, sprouts, broccoli and yorkshires, plating it up to eat later. We met up after heŽd finished work, had a few beers and came home to eat.

Two jobs in one..........clever me!

I had some free-range roast chicken, potatoes and the last of my home-grown organic broad beans. Shame they've all gone now, but the cabbages I've replaced them with will taste great in a few months time. :D

You are younger than my son
I can see I was born before my time. Few men in my age group never even boiled an egg until their wife got fed up of waiting on them hand and foot - now they live off microwaved ready meals most of the time

darwendosser excepted - had to add that didn't I ?:)

I actually enjoy cooking (and eating it ;) ) and find it quite relaxing. I'm not massively creative, but I do experiment with new recipes and types of foods. I've recently been trying out some Thai recipes, which are delicious as I'm a big chili fan! :D

Re: Whats for dinner tonight?

Tonight I will be mostly eating........

Pan fried sea bass fillet on a bed of creamy mashed potato. :D

I happened to be at the Darwen indoor market today and bought a fresh sea bass. The fishmonger filleted it for me and that's what I'm having.

bonny_tuesday 04-08-2008 19:46

Re: Whats for dinner tonight?

The last time I bnought a fresh Sea Bass it cost a bloomin fortune! My daughter did enjoy it though. I'm not keen on 'proper' fish.
Ive only just arrived home so I had a boiled ham and salad sandwich.
