Visiting Manchester Airport With Kids?
As many of you know i love taking Reece out on the train, yesterday i decided to take him and his little mate to the airport to see the planes taking off and landing.
We have done this many times before and its an enjoyable day out, or at least it was.....you used to be able to go through Terminal 1 and sit at the big window, have something to eat and watch the planes all day, you also used to be able to take the kids up to the top of the car park at Terminal 1 and there used to be a viewing area with a shop where you could sit and look through the telescope type things to see the planes close up.....THESE ARE NO MORE, the top level of the car park is now a car hire place where you can no longer view the planes and the bit in T1 where you used to be able to sit is now departures :( so if like me you like taking your kids to the airport, think again, cos its just a waste of train fare now :( Reece was well peed off when we got there |
Re: Visiting Manchester Airport With Kids?
There is a viewing area , but you have to catch a bus from the airport. the viewing area is where the concorde is parked . there is a cafe there aswell . You maybe able to find concorde on google earth at manchester airport .

Re: Visiting Manchester Airport With Kids?
Went there yesterday, well worth a day out. It's located only a quarter mile south on the Wilmslow road at jcn 6 on the M53 well signposted. It cost £4 to park the car,but it is well organized. There are 3 viewing mounds with steps up and rails around for safety. It is at the perimeter fence and the aircraft pass almost under your nose as they taxi after landing. You get a reasonable view of aircraft taking off about a third of a mile away. There are regular escorted visits to the inside of Concord, lasting about half an hour with a very informative lecture on the Concord history. You get to sit in the seat that the Queen used and the one where Michael Jackson always sat. This visit is £5 for adults, not sure about the kids. Also on site is a Trident and a Bae 147.There is an outdoor type cafe serving snacks and hot food, consuming at picnic tables, and a loo.The site has not been going all that long, but there plans afoot to build a hanger for Concord and improve facilities.Goto----
