The side effects show that your immune system has produced the antibodies it was designed to produce - it has worked.

The severity of those symptoms depends on how good an immune system you have.
Since your symptoms are bad - you need to give your immune system some help

Thanks Margaret . I feel absolutely pooh though not as bad today as I have for last two days, The headache has now eased and I have managed to break the high temp but the fluish symptoms are still there.
So what you are saying is that my immune system wasnt that great, is that right? because I always thought I had a pretty good immune system. :)

A healthy diet and lifestyle (and no ciggies:eek: ) is the way usually recommended.
It isn't always possible -so try using a multivitamin supplement, and a herb named Echinacea

Re: Vaccination side effects

I recently chickened out of a date booked for an over 65 flu vaccine, because I have severe vitamin deficiency problems which were not caused by an unhealthy diet, but my inability to absorb vitamins from food.

I know that I would have had side effects (did last year)

There is another factor to consider - any vaccine has small residue of toxic mercury left from the manufacturing process. I have had all my mercury filled teeth removed and completed a heavy metal detox programme, and didn't want to do that again.

Yellow fever is by far more dramatic than flu and so you have done right to have the vaccine. You can have peace of mind that you are now immune to that life threatening illness.
The sunshine you will get will help you through our long winter by giving you vitaminD
Enjoy your holiday - it will boost your immune system simply by going there

Re: Vaccination side effects

i have been taking seven seas chewable zinc and vitamin c capsules and I havent suffered from any of the usual colds and coughs that i usually do at this time of year. They seem a bit funny at first because you get a capsule that is filled with liquid so it is a texture senation in the mouth and just feels a bit wierd. But it has worked for me.
If I feel a cold coming in - i have a few thoughout the day ( you can have up to 4 i think) and it just goes away.

Margaret, surely having the side effects is better than full blown flu?

I have had a couple of fluey days this time, and a swollen arm, haven't had a reaction for years though, before that. But didn't want to risk the "real thing".

Missing it is not something I would recommend to someone with immune system problems, especially diabetes.

I am following a detailed programme of food supplements recommended by Dr Sarah Myhill who specialises in curing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
(my blog says more).
I am making progress and dont want the inevitable setback that the vaccine would cause me.
She advises that the risks to the individual should be weighed. I rarely go out in winter so have a low exposure risk, so I have chosen not to have it.

The ability to hibernate is a priviledge that few can manage:D
I will maybe wear a facemask when my groceries are delivered;)
