A Traditional Christmas?

Maybe, just maybe, we are heading for a traditional Christmas? We've had a fair bit of cold weather through November, we've even had a touch of fog that has lingered over Accrington today, and just a little of Jack Frost in the early hours of the day, (it seems years since we had cobwebs actually frozen and showing themselves up).

Admitted the fog we've had is nothing like the stuff in the late 50's that was tinged with yellow from all the sulphur before the clean air act came in, but we didn't bother back then, being able to play hide and seek whilst only being 3 feet from someone was exciting!

I think the way things are going lot's of children, (and possibly parent's), will get to enjoy the snow covered Christmas day's from 50 years ago.

There again maybe we should start to panic, all that confusion created these days because the inside of peoples double glazing freezes? How will we all cope?

Lets hope it's a white & traditional kind of Crimbo.Lets hope this year the youngsters will be skating on the thick ice that hides the murky depths of the Leeds-Liverpool canal.Maybe i'll give pauper Tom a roasted chestnut & give his polio ridden son a half day 'orf from up the chimney.A visit to the workhouse will follow my lavish banquet of roasted fowl, just to ensure the plebs have'nt smuggled any seasonal cheer onto the shopfloor.Maybe our troops could have a kick-a-bout with the foe on foreign soil after they've tucked into they're bullybeef.A seasonal moral deflating message from Her Maj telling us all what a sh*** year shes had in her ivory tower will no doubt redden the cheeks of single mother of two in Tower Hamlets as she tosses up between having one bar on the fire or roasting the 1kg chicken she blagged off the local spiv, because her giro got delayed in the seasonal post.A traditional visit from a jolly fat bloke in a red suit bearing gifts that he has'nt had to pay for would round of this traditional Christmas nicely.
Still,its Christmas ain't it.Have a good one everybody.....Drunken rant over.
