Celery
 
I've just had 2 sticks of celery for mi dinner and i got thinking......


why does celery make your tongue go numb?



maybe i'm sucking on it too hard, its always made my tongue and the top of my mouth feel numb, anyone else ever experienced this effect?

No ... LOL. Probably because the salt I put down the middle makes me lips pucker up and don't notice.

The celery itself contains a lot of sodium (salt)

It's quite common for people to be allergic to celery so maybe that's what's causing the problem in your mouth. I think, though, it's probably just that it has a strong flavour with no sweetness in it.

I, obviously, dice with death (anaphylactic shock, at least) when I eat it as I like to spread it with peanut butter. :D
