Hard luck andrewb.

Andrewb stood for President in Hull University's recent elections, and after a bit of a kerfuffle the results have just been announced.

Sadly he came in a respectable third place.

Well done.

It's not a micky take by the way.

Despite our recent differences I think you'd have been a good President.

Indeed I only unadded myself from your Facebook campaign last Thursday, when I kept getting mail urging me to vote.:D

Is this not a bit harsh? Andrewb is andrewb, passionate about his cause, rightly or wrongly. Think its a shame to be putting posts like this up, taking the mick out of something he obviously aimed for.

I agree, there is no need to abuse him for not winning.

I was being serious for a change. I think some of the posters in this thread are trying to stir it with Andrew due to some of our recent threads.

Hmmm, k so its a 50/50 choice. which would I be? Definately not trying to stir it, which leaves the personality by pass. (***checks for recent scars***), nope, still got that n all.

Now, just so I understand everything, cos would have hated to miss certain rules in the small print, this is a public forum right? One that suceeds where other fails due to the interesting posts, the numerous members, and mainly the fact that people continue tolog on and post. We dont all have the same views, but if we did, it would be a kinda boring forum with 'yes i agree' plastered all over it.

Whilst I understand Andrewb has some pretty strong beliefs, none of us are in doubt of which political stance he holds, is there any bloody need to have a go at him for this? We all complain aboutof youthor today, they need to grow up, be more responsible, stop mugging old ladies, giving birth to kids etc etc etc

They do something which, whilst its not my mug off tea, took him away from the chance of any mugging, or baby making, and voila, he fails, and theres a number of people with boot poised to kick as he goes down.

I got brought up under the 'if you cant say anything nice, say nowt' banner. Its a shame other people didnt

He stood in the election as himself, not under the banner of any particular party.

As I said, he came a very respectable third, with the top three candidates getting similarly good counts, out of the six candidates that stood for the sabatical position of Union President.

come on.. I think the thread is just a tongue in cheek dig at Andrewb...after all he does make his political stance very clear in posts.. perhaps a personal appearance by Norman Tebbit as he's mentor at the election for president would have helped his chances.

And we've never had a President on here before ..:)

Tough call Andrew .. sorry you didn't win. Next time maybe ? All experience.

Although he didn't stand under a political party's banner, he has said to me that he hopes one day to become an M.P., so it will have been an invaluable experience.

We can't all be winners.:D
