I just wanted to share with you all my little bit of pride at the moment. A lot of you will know from my thread a few weeks back about the charity event I was organising that I have been leading a team of 4 law students in a national law competition organised by 'magic circle' law firm Allen and Overy.

Well all the modules have now been marked and here is the leaderboard:

Allen & Overy

The top 5 teams will go to London on April 16th to compete in the final. I'm pretty proud to lead the only northern team in the top 5, particularly when we are joint top place and we beat the likes of Cambridge after they held the number 1 spot for some time.

I'm pretty proud as I only really put together a team for fun and we've ended up doing extremely well. The details of the competition are only the other links but I'll give you a brief idea of what we had to do.

1st module was a 30-question questionnaire on Allen and Overy
2nd module was a 500 word essay on the 'credit crunch' and its affects on A&O
3rd module was the charity event in aid of CancerCare
4th module was a 2hr assessed problem question involving contracts and mergers and acquisitions
5th module was a 500 word essay on the Lloyds/HBOS merger.

We won a prize for our essay on the Lloyds/HBOS merger but it hasn't arrived yet and they won't tell us what it is!

Thank you :) obviously it wasn't just me, was a team effort. Just really proud to be from the only Northern uni still standing in the competition and we're all northern students. Though jonathan doesn't count as he's from Yorkshire.

I'll let you know how we do in the Final. Obviously we're up against some extremely good Universities so we're just going to give it all we've got and we're going down to London a day early so we can enjoy London together. The rest of my team graduate this year so this is a good opportunity for me to make the most of them before they leave me for law school!

One of my law tutors, the one who has known me the longest, suggested to me the other day that everything I touch seems to turn to gold...

I didn't have the heart to point out that it was King Midas who had that skill and it turned out to be the bane of his life rather than something enjoyable.

It is rubbish being me!

My team came joint second in the Final. Kings College won. We're really happy with the result and I am really looking forward to the future :)
