It doesn't scare me, I love a good storm,sadly saw nothing of today's, didn't even know it had rained till got back from Blackburn and Acc town centre was all wet.....

I was up at Stanhill yesterday when the thunder was going on but it was dry as a bone I drove down to Moscow Mill street and it had obviously been pouring down but not a drop up Stanhill how wierd is that?

You shouldn't really be using computers (or most electronic appliances) during a lightening storm, even if it's not immediately over you. The power surge if a bolt hits somewhere along the leccy supply chain may be enough to damage sensitive stuff like PCs.

All computers should go through a serge protector anyway
all my PCs and laptops go through Big Belkin serge protectors

Think the best lightening storm I ever witnessed was in 1975 when I was working in Carlisle, it was a really warm night and we were all sat outside the hotel with a pint, as you do, and it started lightening, both sheet and forked it was lighting up the road like it was daylight, lasted for around 20 minutes, but it never rained
