However, surely the principle should be that any new(ish) member should be treated on exactly the same basis as those who have been here for years.

JCB has professed his Christian beliefs. So What? There is nothing extreme about them. As far as I am aware, they are fully reconcilable with democratic debate and an open society so I don't see what the problem is. He may possibly have misinterpreted this website and even some of it's members but that is probably only through being a little clouded as to what it's about. He can't tell the comedians from the rest - but neither can I, and I've been on here for seven years. So give him time and don't be nasty to the guy.

He likes the attention.

He tried shouting his mouth off in a political thread, and not many bothered replying to his slurs.

Politics not working, he moved on to religion. With him as a persecured martyr, and bingo! The attention he craves was his.

He had no intention of debating religion, and perceived prejudices, within, or against, any religion.

He does have the right to express his views, as long as forum rules aren't broken.

But that same freedom is also available to those who wish to reply to his sometimes unfathomable posts.

It works both ways.

Though as stated earlier, only idiots run headlong into a battle, without first having a plan of how the land lies, or knowing you have enough weaponry to give yourself a fighting chance.

Oh it is nice, you having two chums now.

They all soon make themselves giddy with excitement, and need to go and have a little rest, sooner or later.

No, he's like that with the loony left.

He was all over me like a rash, when I first joined.

'Give Red Rinda a chance!' he pleaded.

Dropped me like a ton of bricks when he found out I'm branch secretary of the Hyndburn crypto-fascists.

Bless him.

I have moved it to anything goes as it is no longer a serious discussion, if it ever was, so belongs here.
