People who have difficulty reading instruction manuals, are too lazy to read them, or who are plain stupid should not be allowed to play with mechanical/electrical toys.

I'm sure the Girls will consider that to be half the population then !! :D & that being the half with their Brains below the waistline. (We might as well get it in now before some of our more astute ladies pick up on this one) :do-one:

It brings to mind the old Kung Fu saying "Grasshopper.. never walk on broken glass with bare foot ""... maybe it could be updated to "don't stick yer hand in a shredder..you plonker" :D

Real Men don't need no instruction manuals and maps, nor do we need to ask for directions ( forget GPS thats for little girly boys to find the nearest Latte Mocchino outlet ) Real Men had Mecano sets as kids and joined the Cub Scouts .
We also have the credo ....Never trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die ;) ;) :D

I could think of a few more to be included in this category, not necessarily lazy or dyslexic.:D

Careful Steelie or one of the other side will comment that we have to do the same job over and over again, day after day - unless you grow a beard that is:D:D

My shredder 'died' recently, and I have replaced it with shredder scissors.

Can you now put this in your paper recycling sack Margaret ?
Know at one time the council wouldn't take it (as such) due to not having the machinery to deal with it.

That picture knocked me sick. Jeeez.

I am not sure I understand your question.

I put the mechanical part of the dead shredder in the grey bin. I kept the plastic bin section to store docs and scissors ready for a mass shred on the day before the recycling collection.

I have been shredding anything with my name and address on for years.
The shreds go in my white sac and have not been questioned by the men who empty it.

They've always taken mine Kate, I usually put it in a Orange sack, and put a note on saying shredded paper please take and they always have done, ever since they started recycling

What I do now Margaret is I rip my name and Address and any distinguishing marks from any document then put the remainder in the white sack and shred the other bits

Re: Better make sure you unplug your shreeder before trying to unblock it!

I have heard that if you use a cross cut shredder it makes the paper too small to be able to recycle in the machinery that they have.

Perhaps they have sorted out how to do it by now.

That picture is horrible & the person will likely not be able to use their hand fully for a heck of a long time.

However it should be stuck on all shredders with a warning to unplug them before unjamming them.

I attacked a blocked shredder the other day, with scissors and a knife!
Thankfully I had unplugged it before I started to take it apart:rolleyes:

I resurrect this thread because I have just had a note through the door from Hyndburn Waste Services.

It mentions that it is OK to put shredded paper in the white sack.
