Things seem to be getting out of hand on here so for the foreseeable future I will no longer be taking part in the chat on here. Nor will I be signing in as it has reached the stage were I am ready to explode and that will not be bringing the site into distrepute unlike others on here. You know were to find me if you want out with here.

TTFN now.

That is a real shame, yes there are people on here that can be rude and stupid. But. please don't let them win.
I am hearing suggestions, from a number of friends that I have made, of nefarious practices, but fight them, as WSC said on the beaches and elsewhere. Don't let the B'staads grind you down, if we all stand together we will beat them.
Take care, I have enjoyed your contributions, please do not give up and let the B'Saads win;);):D

So, does anybody want to explain what this is all about, as it's got me totally puzzled. Just had a shufty through Spuggie's recent posts to see if he'd been in a ruck with somebody, but couldn't see anything untoward.

So...what's getting out of hand, why is Spuggie about to explode and how are people bringing the site into disrepute..and what are these mysterious nefarious practices that Barrie speaks darkly of?

Anybody want to spell it out to a simple soul like myself?

Had a warning today from a member - who posts regularly - whom I have never met personally, to be careful about PMs as they are certain that someone is reading them. They suggested that he has a personal agenda;);)

Re: Signing out

I can assure you that nobody is reading any PM's. To read PM's you need to have access to the server and be able to get into the mysql database. To be fair, I could do, but it's far to much hassle, and I really couldn't be bothered! There is only me that has access to the server and the database.

Perhaps he's fed up with people coming on and spreading rumors?

What exactly do you mean by, 'nefarious practices'?

Perhaps rather than misquoting Churchill you could help keep accyweb a place worthy of spugs input by not posting such unsubstantiated garbage?

Well none of the mod have had any pm's reports or any info as to what has upset spuggie so we have no idea either:confused:
if he would like to get in touch and explain what or who the problem is i am sure we could sort it out.

Re: Signing out

Think its shame Spugs has taken this line, instead of airing his grievances and discussing them. To my mind if there are threads in any section which are not to your liking, the simple answer is don't read them. The thing is Accy Web is ever increasing in size (members) so the focus of debate is bound to change. I often here it said that Accy Web isn't the same, well know it isn't, but as websites go its by far the best one of its kind going, just take a look at Burnley and Blackburn, both towns bigger than Accy, but their Web sites can only dream of being like AW. On average there are over 200 people per day use it (members) plus countless visitors, Blackburn and Burnley together are lucky to get a dozen

I will certainly pass the information on to Mick when I get back to UK. I will not name my source but Mick, and others he can trust, will be able to check on the information.
The name given to me certainly wasn't Roy.

I don't know Spuggie personally .

What I do know is that he brings humour and fun to Accy Web , and that he is well-liked on this Web .

He has been a member since 2005 .

Whatever has got him down I hope he will have second thoughts .

I've noticed that often, when stuck for a reasoned rebuttal, many retreat to, and resort to meaningless statements or phrases. A common one is: "real world." Just as with "common sense", I have yet to get a satisfying explanation of what "real world" means, leaving me to conclude that it is an empty pejorative: a kind of "Plan B" used when one has nothing constructive to say, or to add to an argument.

Oh, now that is funny, I am being told by a guy that posts a rumor he heard from someone he classes as a friend, (whilst admitting never to have met this person), in a thread in anything goes, started by spuggie, (who is well known for his little jokes), to get 'a life'.
Well, you poor sad man, I have 'a life' & my life doesn't involve spreading stupid rumors around the Internet but yours does.

I do not have much time on line at the moment because I am in France - with a few problems. I did not hijack Spugs post just wondered if he had heard what I had, and was so sorry to hear that he had effectively resigned. He was a great contributor, and I wondered why, as a number of others did.
Then the vitriol flowed.
I only passed on some information - rumour or not, but so much on here is rumour, that i had been told by a long term member, whom I consider to be a friend from long, long ago.
If you do not want to read what I said - please feel free to ignore it, just as you switch over TV channels - I assume - It just requires you press another button
I have stated what I will do when I return to UK - until then, may I respectfully request that you restrain your comments.

Your comments are out of order IMHO, Shaz. And no wonder Accyweb is going down the tube, when one can't post an opinion without being villified (unless it conforms to popular opinion) ie you are having an affair or maybe someone who would like to grass up on is having an affair, but either way what has it got to do with anybody else unless it is made public knowledge??? IMHO threads like this are started by folks just posting "willy nilly" and not considering other folks feelings.
Think about it everyone, I do every time I post. Pity we aren't all so considerate:o

flashy 11-12-2010 08:50

Re: Signing out

Bernie, try not contradicting yourself in the same paragraph 'Your comments are out of order IMHO, Shaz'.....'when one can't post an opinion without being villified'

now they are either out of order OR i can have an opinion, which one is it?
i posted an opinion, then YOU told me i was out of order...hmmmm you where villifying me then....interesting

like i give a toss about what people think of me

we all know who the rumour monger is on accyweb, and it's funny how that person never posts much nowadays isn't it, just be careful what you say to this person because your business will be rife within moments, this person needs to remember what goes around comes around

Gordon Booth 11-12-2010 16:17

Re: Signing out

I'm a newcomer and an 'outsider' on here so not so closely involved to some of the issues sometimes discussed.I thoroughly enjoy the Accyweb but I must admit it gets a bit rough sometimes. I feel being anonymous on here encourages some people to say things in a way they would never dream of saying face to face.If we kept that in mind-'Would I put it that way if I was facing this person or a group of Accywebbers?' some posts might be a little more restrained. But then perhaps not.
Not everyone can rise above the sort of aggression sometimes seen on here.I don't know why Spuggi felt he should pull out but maybe we should try to read between the lines and learn something.

OED is a good reference book:rolleyes::rolleyes:

So does that mean you are referring to Neil, Barry? I don't know what to make of this. This thread has got extremely silly, with its dramatic exits by members and 'cloak and dagger' comment's of warnings via PM's. To be honest if someone is fed up with the site and it makes them want to leave, then they should just leave, to try and go with a 'blaze of glory' is very childish in my opinion. And for people to insinuate that things are not being run properly in accordnce to the site rules so publicly and without explanation is yet another form of attention seeking. I do think that this should all be deleted and can't believe it has not been moderated in the correct procedure as per site rules.
