Brussel Sprouts !

Oh no ... seems going to be a shortage of brussel sprouts this Christmas due to the adverse weather conditions.

Are we going to see panic buying and fights at the vegetable shelves ...

While I actually like brussel sprouts....I doubt that I would fight over them, or indeed miss them if they didn't feature on my plate on Christmas day.

Me.....I like them cooked really well then mashed with butter, salt and pepper and topped with crispy bacon bits(cooked like that I can eat a whole plateful as a main course)......but they make me a bit...erm..... sulphurous :D

Yes, always alternatives ... but I do love them.

Not mushy with butter for me, still crunchy with no additions. All to your own taste though.

I don't mind them crunchy...and have been known to eat them as I am peeling them...but they make me even more smelly if I eat them raw or al dente.......I don't want to be in competition with the dog:D.

Margaret, if you put just a bit of bicarb in the water while cooking them, it helps make them easier to digest and assures 'purer air' afterwards!!
Buon appetito!!

Yes, it does, but it robs them of the vitamins that are good for you.
But that makes me sound ungrateful for the tip...which I'm not.....my gran used to put a pich of Bicarb in gren veggies to make them look greener and of course to make the air a bit sweeter after eating.
I just use Bicarb for putting in cleaning water for the fridge, and also in my 'whites only'
washing.

Horrendous things ! As said elsewhere should be banned under the "Humming rights & Geneva Convention" right up alongside WMD so they are :s_sick: ! Mind you didn't they say the same the other year ? Is there some kind of "Brussels Baron" "Sprout Supremo" hiding away a Brassica heap somewhere in Europe raking in EU subsidies ?

Or is this another sneaky underhand way of sorting out global warming without having to pay some kind of Polar Bear tax ? :up2someth

Best veg. there is , its only one left with any decent taste/flavour most other vegs these days have had the taste bred out in favour of looks and size.
