Crossed Wires.

After my experience with BT over these last 3 weeks (not knocking them, honest ... just one error at the main centre putting me in the wrong queue; my friend related a tale to me that has happened (I think) in the Willows Lane area over the last 2 weeks.

Friend rings her sister-in-law and 'phone is answered by a complete stranger. "Are you after Mrs.S?" the lady asks. "Yes" says my friend. "Well" replies the lady "We are in a right mess here, workmen have been digging up the road and cut through the telephone cables/wires ... BT have restored the lines, but have got their wires crossed. I will give you my number and that will get you through to your sister-in-law .. my callers have to ring your sister-in-laws number to get me !". Lots of people affected with internet, etc.

Yes, it worked. Wonder what will happen when the bills for outgoing calls come through. You couldn't make it up could you. 'Tis funny though ... :D

It is hilarious.

Crossed lines used to be fairly common, pre-digital age I suppose.

'Hello?'

'Hello?'

'Who's that?'

'Who are you? I was here first.'

'No you weren't, I'm talking to my mum.'

'Please put the phone down, and redial who you want.'

'No, I was here first, you go.'

'No, you go.'

Happy days.

Lots of fun, all for 2p.

:D

Of course.

Very often the people on a crossed line were more interesting than the people I was calling.

Not happened for years, but just now my phone rang, and there are ten other people on the line, from all over the country, who the same thing happened to.

It's hilarious.

'Hello?'

'Hello. why did you call me?'

'I didn't you called me.'

'...and me!'

'Me too!'

Best free laugh I've had for ages.

:D

I think they call it a 'booty call', by the time I'd finished.
