Japan is worse than Chernobyl, but only we conspiracy theorists have taken the trouble to find that out.

How High Are Radiation Levels in Japan? → Washington's Blog

I suppose that destination is the cheapest holiday you could get.
The people who live there want out but Japan is smaller, so there is nowhere to go.

Bernard's got a point there. Bee, if you like reading well worth investing in a kindle. 3,500 books on one little device!

Steve, have you got one? How do you download books? Do you need a computer or can you download direct to the Kindle?

Yep, I've got one, Michael. Wouldn't be without it. You need an Amazon account, then you can download direct to your kindle. Worth having a look at the kindle section on the Amazon site to see what books are available and what they cost (quite cheap or even free in many cases).

there's a whole thread about it here...

Thanks for the info. I had hundreds of books but gave them all to charity two years ago because the room I kept them in was beginning to smell like a second-hand bookshop! I don't have a computer, just this smartphone.

We aren't on holiday at the Same time. Bee has gone today. Maybe when I log on in Tenerife, and he logs on in japan you will see the different IP addresses for those of you that are IT literate enough. Hopefully that will convince some of you, though I really couldn't give a toss what you think anymore.

Re: Holidays

I have just had 8 days at Southport as a non paying guest of the British Legion. Stayed at Byng House on the promenade a hundred yards from the pier. All meals, entertainment and trips out all for nowt. Fantastic place with large bedrooms and wet rooms, pool room and big garden with wrought iron pagoda for the smokers. The air show was on over the weekend we were there and from the upstairs lounge the view was superb.
If you know any ex service men/women who have had a illness or their partner has, or even the widow of a serviceman then let them know about it, my wife went with me for nowt as well. They even provide travel warrants for people without cars.
mobo scooters are available for a small fee and a place to store them with chargers is in the building.
Carling was £2.30 a pint.

Better than getting radiation sickness in Japan and meeting Bee.

Thank you very much for your kind remark Margaret, it is nice to know that people do care about others.

The holiday certainly did my wife a great deal of good and she enjoyed being waited on, she even had her her done and was pampered by the visiting hairdresser.

I enjoyed not having to make the beds and washing up. Good grub, good staff, good hotel and good company all made it a most enjoyable 8 days.

Roll on the next two years when we are eligible to go again.
