Susie's back!
Just wanted to let the good folk of Accyweb know that their favourite sunflower has returned. Thanks to all for PMs and good wishes.
My sudden departure on 10 Jan as posted on the quiz thread was occasioned by a call from my GP that afternoon with the result of a blood test done the previous day. Turns out I was so anaemic my haemoglobin count was less than half normal and I had to go straight to Royal Lancaster Infirmary, do not pass go. Anyway after four pints of the red stuff overnight that was sorted. Then more tests and scans for a week. Diagnosis, rectal carcinoma - a real pain in the bum, you might say. Prognosis, good, it hasn't spread. Treatment, colostomy to isolate the rectum, I had this done Thursday, now at home and recovering well. Shortly, five weeks of daily visits to Preston for radio/chemotherapy to shrink it, then three months observation and recovery and then an op to whip out what's left. A long road to become the woman without an arsehole. This was my first encounter with a GP since I was at university forty years ago and my first ever stay in hospital. Everyone at RLI could not have been nicer, kinder or more reassuring - and the food wasn't bad either! Had some fun with the other women in the ward which helps to keep everyone going. I hope no one minds me sharing this in the forum but I wanted to tell everyone what was going on. I may disappear again from time to time and now you will know why. Once again, thanks for your concern, it is very much appreciated. And watch out you quizzers! :);) |
Re: Susie's back!
You have been missed. Glad to have you back. I hope things go well for you.
The A'hole comment reminds me of a funny someone once told me.....a woman heard that her friend was going to get married......she looked disdainfully at the woman who had told her this and said 'whatever for - she already has one arsehole...why would she choose to have another?' OK....I'll get my coat! |
Re: Susie's back!
Good to see yeh back Susie.:);)
|
Re: Susie's back!
A very positive, no nonsense attitude.
Expect nothing less. Welcome back. :) |
Re: Susie's back!
Good to have you back Susie,I really missed you.Hope all goe's well for you in the future
|
Re: Susie's back!
I'm sure the quizzers are quaking a bit........being anaemic stops you from thinking as quickly and as clearly.......4 pints should have boosted the oxygen to the brain....Yep, that and a bit of time on your hands to read up........watch out quizzers:)

I hear you have not been so good yourself Gary, hope you are picking up and sorry to hear on another thread that you had to forego a cruise to the Baltic. That is one I would love to do and I will get there one day. Thanks for the good wishes - they are very much reciprocated. |
Re: Susie's back!
That's a bit of a bummer but hopefully it'll all be OK. Welcome back, Susie.

Re: Susie's back!
You're certainly a feisty little lady Sue.
So far, so good and your fighting spirit will help you face what has to come yet, I'm sure. Welcome back, even though you've already beaten me twice on the quiz in less than 24hrs, grumble, grumble;):D |
Re: Susie's back!
See, I told you she would be in fighting form.
|
Glad your back, hope you kick ass on the quiz, when you go for your appointments don't endure any more discomfort than you need to, when you get to the hospital insist that they let you have a little stool.
|
Re: Susie's back!
Stop encouraging her in the quiz.
She doesn't need it. Everyone else does. :D |

Re: Susie's back!
Had a really nice day today. Summoned to Kendal Hospital for a checkup, all well so far, in and out v swiftly, could spend a lot more time with my lovely consultant, he is sooo nice!
Lovely sunny day, crisp and cold, no snow here but there was lots lying, starting just south of Kendal, all very alpine looking on the hills. Really lifted the spirits. Pushed the boat out , lunch in Asda next to the hospital then on to the K outlet village to buy shoes, not for me I hasten to add but for Richard who tends to buy four pairs at a time then waits till they start falling apart. He remembers wearing shoes that could be repaired over and over and can't get used to modern ones that get thrown away - unless you pay vast amounts for them in the first place. Mission accomplished, I was a bit tired after all that but revived after a cup of tea back at home and now relaxing on accyweb! It was just nice to have a day out on such a perfect day weatherwise for this time of year. |
Re: Susie's back!
Glad your recovery's going well.
...and you've also returned to form on the quiz front!!! |

Re: Susie's back!
Yes susie glad to hear so far so good, keep on going. And look after yourself take it easy dont do to much:)
|
Re: Susie's back!
Glad you had a lovely day Sue. Days like that lift your spirit.
What is it with men and shoes? I have one who will wear them till they drop off his feet, and what is worse wants to pay as little as possible for new ones. I can't make him see that when you buy cheap shoes they do not last and are rarely comfortable. Last year I bought him a pair of shoes for his birthday....I daren't tell him how much they cost, but he said it was like wearing carpet slippers they were so soft and comfy.....and he is still wearing them! |

Glad it was a positive day. Been blizzarding all day here, lovely to see though. Keep taking it a day at a time.:) |
Re: Susie's back!
Actually Di I wouldn't mind a good blizzard, makes it feel all the cosier indoors.
You confused with your talk of Lake Garda and beaches. Were you really there recently? Surely not swimming? Congrats on your two recent wins, everyone is motoring at the moment! |

Re: Susie's back!
Yes we bought some mint cake... and sad to say I wouldn't know know where to buy clogs apart from the trendy ones you see for sale at folk festivals and the like. And Richard is not a flat cap man - more the wooly hat to keep his remaining hair warm - worn very tall as they do in Scandinavia for the insulating qualities of the air inside.
Actually my grandad wore a flat cap and clogs as he worked on the fish market all his life. |
Re: Susie's back!
Think you can still get clogs up rossendale valley somewhere made to measure,my uncle wore clogs everyday up till his death 12 months ago. He had two pairs at all times one for best and his "everyday" clogs.

(I didn't think that hairy Welshmen who love their pet sheep deserved to die:eek::D) Hope today is another positve one Sue...:) Back to Liverpool now for tea in the garden;) |
