A bit like George, from the Famous Five.

Feisty gals, both.

:D

George and Velma -nah!!! Never realized that, both big heroines of mine -(Have just corrected that from heroes -freudian slip!?) never have a picnic without lashings of ginger beer.

So what's the story with Fatty out of the Secret Seven?!:D

Well I certainly didn't know. I did like George best when I used to read the Famous Five.

I think it's just because they ain't soppy, and are seen as being intelligent, and fearless.

Unlike many female children's characaters.

Having never seen it I thought I would look up Scoobydoo on Wikipedia:

Velma Elizabeth Dinkley is prone to losing her glasses. She is usually seen wearing a baggy orange sweater, short pleated skirt (or in later episodes shorts), knee socks, and Mary Janes. She is seen as the brain of the group. Velma is usually portrayed as a highly intelligent young woman with highly specific interests in science (which in the Scooby and Scrappy Doo series leads her to pursue a career as a NASA research scientist) or merely being very well read on obscure fields, such as ancient Viking writing.

Pretty good Di... I was a scientist as you know, my middle name is Elizabeth and I do wear Mary Janes most of the time. I've never lost my glasses though!

Don't know what Steve makes of Shaggy... ;)

George was my favourite too.

Never liked Scooby Doo.

American pap.

Just usually caught the end, which was the same every week.

A nice man, bring unmasked as the villain, and cursing 'Those pesky kids.'

Happy to see the credits roll, as I settled down for Blue Peter.

:D

Bet you wouldn't mind the odd Scooby-snack now though!

Was it Val, Peter and John wih Petra and Shep?

Still have a "thing" about John Noakes -he was lovely! "Get down, Shep":D

Oh yes.

Though don't forget Jason the Siamese cat, and Freda the tortoise.

I never quite got over Val going off on her Special Assignments, and never coming back, and being replaced by that Young Generation dancer, Lesley Judd.

As one of Val's Special Assignments was to the Vatican, I did hold the Pope partly to blame for many years, for her disappearance from my life.

Lesley Judd was a little too Magpie for my liking, with her hippy skirts, and ethnic jewellery.

Forget Velma, and George, my hero was the legendary Biddy Baxter.

A well groomed, control freak, mistress of the put down, and who didn't suffer fools gladly.

:D

Had forgotten all about Jason!

Quite liked Lesley Judd, very trendy!

Used to get the Blue Peter Annual every Xmas -did they ever dig up the Millenium box from the BP garden -presume they did...

You must show me your BP badge (I remember how you got it;)) it isn't a gold one is it?

Well just off do something creative -anyone got any sticky-backed plastic?:D

OMG! Just remembered making an advent candle "thing" (can't remember names today -hole in the brain moment!) out of two metal clothes hangers, tinsel and bottle tops...:D

Found this wonderful picture -but was completely deluded while looking for it, saw a headline in The Sun where Val admits to having had sex with peter Purves:eek:

How could she...John is so much cuter -just look at the photo!:D

Lesley Judd really marks the start of a new era -much more "Modern".

Photo is from 1972 - I was 9!:D

Yes, that was a shocking revelation.

Something that shocks me now is her hair.

It's grey, but looks like she attacks it with a mascara wand.

(I've seen it look even worse, with it's black smears, than in this photo.)
