Bitcin & back biting in session.

While at times some of these slanging matches are amusing & raise a wry smile to the non combatant, it does at times over step the mark & becomes personal & insulting. Now if that's what fires your rockets, bully for you ! But for some it becomes tedious & repetitive, inane & childish.

Fell free to call me for this, but it is my perspective on the issue & from various comments others feel likewise. So, I've now given you an arena of your own to have your "Bitchfest", your "Cyber fisticuffs", & your virtual "Step outside & say that!" petty squabbles .............. please use it & leave the other threads for genuine debate/discussion.

I expect at least 30 sides by this time next week. :D

Let the games commence ! ;)

That doesn't constitute an insult when you are a donkey...it is like calling you by your Sunday name....steve you need to take some lessons....I can give you the name of a few tutors if you are stuck :)

Now maybe this is the kind of response we all should use when faced with insults...genuine ones I mean...maybe this would just defuse the issue and madden the insulter.
I might be the first to test it out.

I wasn't aware you spoke the lingua Krautae, fine praise indeed, although the wrong gender, "Hengst" would be the correct terminology in this instance. :D

No not a mare.......it should have read astute.....but somehow a space inveigled its way in there. But hey....Hengst would be real praise, would it not?

I only have a smattering of german...most of that, daddy taught me :)

I've already learned some good insults since I've been on Accy Web but I'm saving 'em for when I really need them....

One must admit, to a certain amount of intercession on my part purely to facilitate the availing of my little international language pun. :o

Sorry this is not an insult - I like this poem by G K Chesterton...

"When fishes flew and forests walked,
And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born;

With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings,
The devil's walking parody
On all four-footed things;

The tattered outlaw of the earth,
Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me, I am dumb,
I keep my secret still.

Fools! For I also had my hour;
One far fierce hour and sweet
There was a shout about my ears
And palms before my feet."

No, I fear we're not of a suitable disposition at this present time, but I await with temerity the arrival of our, "Grouching Gladiators" our "Cavilling Combatants". Enter the contrarians proper & no doubt fur & feathers will fly.

With our contretemps thus engaged, the rest of us may enjoy ourselves elsewhere upon the forums pages, occasionally peeking in anon to ascertain the level of animosity & verbosity of the invective being used, or whether one or t'other has slunk away to sulk & pout most delinquently. :p

"The Donkey"

The last chapter of the resume should suffice to elicit some thought.

For starters a light crispy entree of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, the main & as such the meat of the meal, Oxford thesaurus of English & Dessert lightly whipped & fluffy, Oxford English reference Dictionary.

I am not averse to words & as such feast & devour regularly such dainties, for a man without words & the artifice & wherewithal to use them is no man, he that must seek recourse in base insults & belittlement, denigrates but himself.

Failing that, a swift thump along the lughole conveys a plethora of words especially if you hit 'em with a big enough Dictionary ! :)

I think you might like the Etymologicon for your next read then.

What the flipin eck is that?

Margaret Pilkington 15-04-2012 16:28

Re: Bitcin & back biting in session.

The Etymologicon is a circular stroll though words that you thought you knew the roots of. You might be surprised to find that you don't know much of their history at all.

It is a very entertaining read and gave me quite a few belly laughs. I can recommend it if you like obscure facts.
Etymology is the study of the history of words.

It might be good to look at the origin of bitchin' or back biting (just to keep the thread on track).

Ooooh, I wish I'd read this thread before I'd tried fawning in the grand national thread, I know she no longer believes in the site, shame that I took time to be polite over there, cos it will mean as much to her as this does to me, (unfortunatly).

Some people are nasty to almost everybody.

When you get an earful from them, at least you get unspoken sympathy from the folk who got it before you.

I suppose it is a symptom of resentment that they have had a raw deal in life.

There is a 'law of rebound' - what you put out, you get back - magnified!

I was going to contribute to this thread but having read all posts, I haven't a clue whats going on, I know when I am outclassed. I will just sit back and read the posts whilst I do a bit of whittling.

Simply put, for those of you in a quandary, the initial idea was for all those bitching & name calling to do it here, trade their juvenile insults & save space on other threads where the majority want to discuss & debate a topic without the interference caused by petty squabbles.

Admittedly that may not of been clear from the preceding posts, as those commenting thus far had not the inclination or spitefulness to debauch into inane & inconsequential name calling.

Hopefully this helps. :)
