Blackberry picking (the fruit not the phone)

It's that time of year again people, just been out picking loads along the road between Wynsors and The Redcap, got them soaking at the moment, will leave them for 24 hours then make a pie and freeze the rest, going to go along the canal and pick some next week :D i love this time of year

Good for you flashy! We had a bad year for my blackberries (the thornless variety) this year but had blueberries and grapes galore.

Any left flashy? Willow and I are out Monday morning in search of blackberries (weather allowing) and are in heavy discussions at the moment as to which direction to head in.
Last year, we got loads of fruit from the top of Newark St. but this year, the travellers are camped out within yards (metres?) of the bushes and it could be a little risky taking the family there :(

The old railway from Nuttall St to Baxenden is usually full of them once you get past hollins

Thanks flashy, Entwisi got in first with the suggestion of the old railway line so we will give that a go first, if that fails to produce a bumper crop, the canal will be next ;)

Same here -can't wait for autumn to kick in -hope the pie was good -love apple and blackberry crumble too swathed in custard:D

We always usd to go up Whinney hill for our blackberries - don't know if they're still there...

If you have some raspberries/strawbs/redcurrants or blueberries a summer pudding is great and easy to make!:)

pick some where the council havnt been with the sprays, and steer clear of dog walking areas, dog pee and poo isnt a very good fertiliser,

Willow & I went this afternoon for the first time this year. First we tried around Bullough Park but the only thing on offer was tiny unripe red fruit. We then went to Savoy St. where we were more successful and finished off around the redcap area.
Generally disappointed this year but have enough for a treat or two later in the week. :D
