Royal Mail

Has anyone had any post thats either been very late or not even turned up at all recently?
Reece's gran posted his birthday card first class from Fence last Saturday and it hasn't turned up yet, she's a bit pee'd off because she'd put £20 in it for his birthday as she always does.

Six weeks ago i ordered something off ebay from china, it takes UP TO 30 days to get here, it's been a lot longer, i got an email last night from China asking if i was enjoying the product (a part for my android tablet) i can't answer the fella cos i haven't got it yet.

Anyone any ideas as to what i should do?

the thing from China, Shaz...contact them and tell them it hasn't arrived. I ordered an insert for a handbag(long before you could get them in this country)......and it was supposed to take a month to arrive....it hadn't arrived after 6 weeeks so I contacted them and they put a replacement in the post......the replacement took 3 weeks to arrive.

Our ordinary post can arrive anywhere between 10 am and 3pm.
Anything that looks like a birthday card is ripe for the picking. I always put birthday cards in a brown envelope - even when they don't have money in them.

Re: Royal Mail

you should never put money in birthday cards it is a stupid thing to do,it should have been a postal order, then you could have claimed, you can feel an envelope and tell if its got money in it, its probably been spent over the bar in the nearest pub to the sorting office by now .

Thanx Marg, i'll email them and tell them, my dad next door has been getting his post but all i've been getting is junk, think i might post myself a card and see what happens to that

Re: Royal Mail

I hope it turns up.

Cards notoriously go missing.

Mainly because some scum think they might have cash inside, from some nice granny.

Worth reporting, as they might be able to work out who did it, though I fear it probably won't mean Reece gets his birthday money.

You aren't really supposed to send cash through the mail, although lots of us do.

If you are going to do it, send a card, and post any money disguised as a letter seperately.

That's what my gran ended up doing when I'd moved away, and similar things happened to cards she sent. Cards are much more likely to go 'missing' than letters.

Though I would still add, if cash is being posted, do it disguised in a letter, not a greeting card. Which don't seem to get the same care taken with them as other mail.

Thankfully it turned up, eventually.

It was still late, even though it was posted early enough for it to arrive on his birthday.

No wonder it's called snail mail.

A snail would have got to you from Fence by Wednesday afternoon, latest.

Rant away.

:D

Re: Royal Mail

I've written two complaints to them recently. Once about their offices closing 5 minutes early, when I wanted to pick an item up, and once about one of their vans hurtling toward me at 30mph ish on a 5mph road and forcing me to swerve into the kerb in panic.

I hate complaining about them, in the view that other courier companies are somewhat taking over and I don't like that either, but I had to do it-I expect a service that I am not getting.
Of the first complaint, I was sent an apology and a free packet of stamps.
The second is still in progress (i.e they didn't call me when they promised to!) I will let you know! x

Which is odd if you think about it - the ratio of greeting cards which are "time sensitive" is far higher than the ratio of letters.

Edit: My son's birthday card (containing a cheque) was posted in Haworth, first class, two days before his birthday. It arrived four days late.

it's the postal service then Gareth, makes me wonder why we bother buying first class stamps

I thought I replied to ^ hmmm

Anyway It was supposed to arrive in around 10 days. Don't know happens to them. Whether they get held in customs or something....

If you are going to send cash in mail its best to send special delivery. But it will cost around £6 ;)
