'Free' text message services

I know there's no such thing. But I've lost my phone. And I've just sent a text message via one of these things, to the dude whose house I take care of, asking him how to work the washing machine.

Message- 'Hi, I cannot figure out the washing machine. Can you call the landline when you get chance please?'

Default pop up from the mobile site;

***MESSAGE HAS NOT BEEN SENT.MESSAGE CONTAINS OFFENSIVE WORDS'.
!!

I guess if washing machine is offensive, I should stay away from the thing, right?!
(WTH?):confused:
:)

I tried again thinking it may have been a mistake!
I remember one system I used when I worked in an office, dealing with people wouldn't let you type certain names because the word encompassed an offensive word.I had to do some creative typing!Maybe it was that but I don't see how!
Or maybe it's a ploy to get you to sign up to something, I didn't hang around that long!

I still remember when our computer system refused to allow anything to "Scunthorpe" because of rude words

You beat me to it. :)

The cost to the company of sending a "free" message is far outweighed by the profit from having a verified, current spammable mobile number.
