Ain't Life A Shame.

Just as they were getting comfortable, a pair of boots I've been breaking in over the past 15 years have sprung a leak and therefore are no longer fit for purpose.

They were alright on my outward journey, whilst the ground was still frozen, but coming home, how uncomfortable, soggy socks.
Does this mean I'll have to go back to the thirty Bob shop buy replacements and take another 15 years getting my feet to fit?

I almost feel as depressed as a woman at the sales, 'I don't care if these shoes are two sizes too small they're a bargain, I'll make them fit'.

Good bye old friends, it was nice wearing you, may you find a happy home somewhere, I hope the recycled clothes sack I put you into sends you somewhere dry, otherwise your new owner will curse us both.

You could wear waterproof socks.

Re: Ain't Life A Shame.

Sometimes I think it's cruel giving machines a personality. My mate once brought a pair of shoes with artificial intelligence. Smart Shoes, they were called. It was a neat idea. No matter how blind drunk you were, they would always get you home. Then he got ratted one night in Manchester, and woke up the next morning in Ibiza. See, the shoes got bored just going from his local to the flat. They wanted to see the world, man, y'know? He had a helluva job getting rid of them. No matter who he sold them to, they'd show up again the next day! He tried to shut them out, but they just kicked the door down, y'know?
Last thing he heard, they'd sort of, erm, robbed a car and drove it into a canal. They couldn't steer, y'see. He went to see a priest. The priest told him, he said, it was alright, and all that, and the shoes were happy, and they'd gone to heaven. Y'see, it turns out shoes have soles.

Perhaps this is what you should do, Less - go and sit on Broadway with bare feet and hope a friendly neighbourhood copper takes pity on you...

BBC News - Caring NYPD officer is internet hit

A couple of dog poo bags in your boots will keep your feet dry. If the bags are full then your feet will be warm as well

Cobblers !! :D They'll be able to sort your R sole out, it is your right boot that needs resoling isn't it ? I'm being presumptuous here of course, it could be your L sole, not sure as your initial post didn't make it quite clear. :)

He should get them bronzed ... I do that with my gotchies when the 'lastic goes. Or, sometimes I just throw them at the wall; they seem to stick there real good.
