Bring Back Garinda!
 

I feel increasingly annoyed that Garinda appears to have 'taken his ball home'.

Am I happy that Garinda finally got a talking too for his actions on the forum? Yes I am. Am I happy that he decided to leave the site? Not at all

Most users have good input, most of the time. Lately. In some threads. I feel the loss of his contribution(see such boring threads as venting spleens)

Anyway if he is not going to come back to the forum, somebody that knows him may tell him from me; no hard feelings.

AS a loyal member should you be pointing other members to threads that are only designed to cause the site and it's users distress.

Not a Oh my God what am I going to do next the world as I know it is ending type distress.
More a, Oh my God what is the thread starter going to do next his world is obviously ending and he wants to drag everyone down with him distress.:)

Why do people like him that obviously don't want to befriend anyone, or post anything useful, or indeed contribute anything in the positive come onto the site in the first place?:confused:

Must admit to being curious as to why Rindy hasn't been on for quite some while. Still the Lad knows his own mind best I suppose & he'll return as & when he sees fit.

Rindy was and will again become a defender of the faith.
The faith in this case isn't some mythical God, no, it is something more intangible, it really doesn't exist except in the form of ones and zeros on a server somewhere.
What is it?

It is AccyWeb.

There are personal reasons which may have affected his style, I suspect however he is sick to the back teeth, from his attempts at keeping the site clean of the Trolls, snipers and flames he had a natural talent of spotting.
Even our mods leave these folk to walk over the site rather than telling them to wipe their feet on their way in.
He suffered many a do gooding slating from folk saying we shouldn't be hard on newbies.
Never any real support.
How do i know?
The answer is very simple, we have such a newbie posting, negative against all of us and the mods do nothing to stop them.
Well its about time things changed, yes we need Rindy back, 95% of all he posted was fun, the rest was protecting ordinary members.

I think if things don't change for true members instead of letting people walk over the place, I might join him.

Not yet, when I go I won't announce I just won't return.

Bring back Rindy, remove the trolls as soon as they start.

Rindy did exactly that he didn't say he was going, he just went.
And I, for one, don't think he will be back anytime soon.
He is missed because he did spot the flamers, the trolls, those with ten bob on themselves, the pompous......he had the knack of seeing right through them.

I'm sorry to say the mods are batting against a sticky wicket.
They seem to need an extra rule so that they can ban these idiots as soon as their true intentions are revealed, at the moment they have to put up with them until the trash break some rules.
Or do they? everything is at the mods discretion they can actually ban without explaining, so, if anyone new or old starts showing signs, zip they are gone, no ifs no but just gone.
Then perhaps others will behave rather than want to change the site to THEIR site.

I never saw what caused Rindy to leave...I was otherwise occupied at the time as my daughter was in hospital and I was at her home on child minding duties.......when I came back he was gone.
I could find nothing about him leaving...having said that I didn't look too hard or ask questions on site, in case he was off on a holiday somewhere.
I do miss his brand of humour(acidic as it was at times) and his sense of defending those who were being shot at...he had a unique way ofbeing able toremember who had said what ...and when. I envied him that ability at times.
I wish he would come back, but my gut feeling is that he won't.

Yes, Rob...I gathered that.....and in a way, I guess Garinda would be touched to know he was missed.
I don't really want to know why he left.
I liked him, though we didn't always see eye to eye...we could always agree to differ without (or seemingly so) rancour.

What a shame, He left nothing we can do about it, except...

Back up the others that are still here Trying to protect the site.

He could see all the way through and put down the pretentious, if only I had half his talent.

He gave up on us, why? because people might agree, but find it impolite to put a troll down.

Lose a few newbies? Yes, it is a loss, their loss.

If they could try to be nice, humorous, witty, well rounded, they may have posted once in ten years what he posted most hours.

Saying we need an extra rule is a little unfair, this is in the rules

I can only speak for myself and I do think I am to lenient on some users but banning them could/would cause others to be upset so I tend to leave them alone. Saying that I am not really that bothered if I do upset individuals but don't want to upset the forum in general. I think it works well and if members think someone is trolling why do they reply to them. Ignoring any post you think are trolling makes them meaningless.

Its not just new members that post daft/pointless/nasty/trolling etc post, long time members who should know better also do it.

Modding this site is about finding a balance, its not always easy, I often upset people but the site is still very active compared to many local sites.

I have had many abusing PM's asking why I have deleted their posts or banned their friends. Being honest I don't really care, I am thick skinned and if I think someone does something wrong I usually do something about it. There are a few members I am close to banning but I also find that some that others think should be banned actually add something to the forum. We all have different points of view and modding a forum will also be a balancing act. One thing that I always felt made this forum good is that the mods don't always see things as black and white and there is a little wiggle room with the rules.

Without that wiggle room many of the old school would have been banned years ago :D

Yet again our personal differences get in the way.

Neil, I think the modding of the forum must be a very difficult balancing act because even some of those that come here on a troll will sometimes start threads that provoke a lot of interest and responses.......and not in a trolling sense.
I guess that what I am trying to say(and doing it badly) is that there is bad in the best of us, and good in the worst of us.

as someone who has had his fair share of being judged and castigated for my past i am very sorry that garinda is no longer posting on here,yes we had a few heated discussions and debates,but at the end of the day he called a spade a spade,his posts were for the best enlightening critical but most of all honest which is what some members on here do lack,i hope he realises how much he is missed on this website,on another note i wish you all who post on here a very merry xmas and a very prosperous and happy new year 2013. May buddah bless you all and keep you safe .

Sorry Restless, I'm afraid that ain't going to happen, Rindi said the day he got fed up on accyweb would be the day he quit, that day was back in august/september, doubt if he'll be back, he now uses facebook
