Picking your nose.......
Don't deny it - you've done it. But there was an interesting little story in the paper this morning which stated that picking your nose and eating it is beneficial to your health. Apparently, there's lots of good bacteria up your nose there that when collected and subsequently digested within the intestines helps maintain the bodie's immune system.
I wonder what fellow members of the Accy web think of this. Possibly we could have a comment from our resident health consultant, Nurse Lettie? |

Re: Picking your nose.......
I'm only quoting what I read. The same article recomends a good pugwash at least 5 times a day to decrease the risk of prostate cancer (it clears out dangerous chemicals), drinking your own wee-wee (or just rubbing it on the skin if you can't stomach the latter) - it's good for the antibodies, and, if you're into building up your vitamin B6, eating human placenta. There are several recipes on the internet for this, including a pizza variation.

Re: Picking your nose.......
So all these years we've been telling little kids not to eat bogies and they were doing something healthy all along.

Re: Picking your nose.......
Whatever next!!!! I haven't read this article, but my gut feeling is that there may be a ring of truth to it. Lots of good flora (bacteria) inhabit various orifices of the body and are there to prevent nastier things getting in. Therefore the bogey thing may not be such a bad idea (a bit distasteful but certainly wouldn't do any harm) Human urine in the absence of an infection is sterile, so wouldn't do any harm either (theoretically) Stranded people have sometimes been forced to drink their own urine to survive, I wouldn't fancy it but sometimes needs must..... I'd rather not have to drink anybody elses though.:D
There are loads of interesting placenta recipies out there. Placentae contain loads of hormones and are rumoured to help combat such ailments as post-natal depression and replace vital vitamins after childbirth etc. Maybe that's why animals eat their own... Do they know something we don't???? I wouldn't particularly want to eat one, but do we ever really know what we are eating?? The amount of urine found on bar snacks such as nuts etc, from dirty beggers not washing their hands after the loo is amazing. I bet we've all inadvertantly ingested urine in one form or another. :) I'm hungry now, just nipping out for nuts..:D |
